I could use some help with this.

I sold my 2SS and purchased a 2018 CLA45 AMG. This car automatically applies the parking brake when you shut the car off. Problem with this is, I work offshore, and the car sits parked for 4 weeks periods in the weather. When I return to the car, I find that that over this 4 week period the brake pads have rusted to the rotors. not allowing them to disengage. I can place into drive and reach over 3k RPM without breaking them free. It takes some work (forward and reverse) to finally get them to break free so I can drive off.

1) I am concerned that doing this will damage the brake pads or other components.
2) The car is parked on a gravel parking lot, once the pads break free, tires spin and rocks fly which can cause damage to other parked vehicles.
3) The parking lot is very small, and when pads break free the car will surge forward and can easily strike another parked car.

Can I do anything to alleviate this issue? Is there a way to free the pads from the rotors without just getting on the accelerator and hoping for the best?

I'd go onto a Mercedes forum and ask this question because if this is something Mercedes has the car do, which is stupid, then maybe there is s solution.

Or talk to a Mercedes dealer and explain why you do not want this feature and if there is a way to turn it off.

Makes the most sense. I agree that it is a stupid feature, but probably has a lot to do with having the dual clutch transmission.
I did ask on a Merc forum as well, but since I saw this discussion here, I thought I'd inquire here as well. Thanks.

Once you turn the engine off it sets the brake right? Can you manually release it after that? Don't know what you've tried.

I've searched for a little while now and all I see are Merc owners saying how they love this feature. I would see this being useful if you parked on a hill but not if you're on level ground.

Then comes the surprise when said owners drive a different car and park it on a hill.

Yes you can manually set/release the parking brake, however when you shut the car off, it will automatically set the brake for you.

Even if I manually release the brake, the pads are frozen (rusted) to the rotors pretty solidly after 4 weeks and it take a lot of effort to un-stick them.

I drive this 4banger harder than I probably should

That said, I fly offshore via chopper around 4am and the thing sits in the gravel parking lot for 4-5 weeks at a time in the elements. By the time I get back to it, the brakes are frozen solid.

Perhaps using a car cover will keep most of the elements from the rotors?
It would also help protect the paint as well .

Won't do him any good since he has to let the car out in the elements unattended for 4-5 weeks while he's off shore.

I already sent a video showing how to hopefully ferry around it. Hopefully it'll work

Sounds like its time to buy a set of 4 wheel covers. They sell them online at RV stores.

Dont wash it in the cooler temps 60-50's and put it up even overnight ! Mine took 5 minutes of rocking back (6 speed)and forth before the pads broke loose. I drive mine at least 2-4 miles down the road then put it up with dry rotors !
