I saw someone post about doing that a couple of years ago and did the same thing. I don't remember seeing the SD icon but I haven't gotten around to using it yet.

Still driving this Mexico made pos. Waiting for headliner. Is there anything I can do to escalate this?

A textbook use case for plastidip

Got fed up by the chrome-ish bezel around the cluster blinding me on longer trips, and plastidipped it after seeing the mods done by fellow member turbo2ltr.

After a practice run on a piece of curved plastic (I'd never used plastidip before), I laid down three coats as per the instructions, and it turned out darn near perfect, "almost OEM" as the goonzquad boys would say. The dip is extremely easy to work with at these small sizes, and the resulting texture is a good match for the rest of the interior.

THAT’S AWESOME! I need to get over my fear of screwing it up and either try this or wrapping it.

It's literally impossible to screw up. I screwed mine up the first time, took me 5 minutes to pull it all off and start again. Plastidip is easily removed.

When you pull the bezels, just be gentle, don't use any tool, not even a plastic trim tool. Slowly pull them away from the cluster, starting at the bottom, the clips are very small and don't grab hard. Wrapping would be a bit more difficult, plus this black plastidip is a 95% match for the HUD bezel, it looks very natural. Even if you want a different color, this is the easiest method by far.

Exactly, if in doubt, just spray one more coat and once it's thick enough, it peels off like snakeskin
Thank you for the inspiration

I have not found this to be an issue. Wonder if it is just because you are at the exact right height for the reflection.

In my case it was easily blocked by the steering wheel, but then the wheel wasn't in a good position for me, so it's most certainly possible. I have a theory also that people in the norther regions don't have the issue either because the sun never gets high enough. I think it has to be nearly overhead for it to be an issue, but thats a guess.

No offense, but man that's an eye sore... We have a law requiring a front plate here in WI, but I never put mine on. I'll wait until I get pulled over and get a warning. Then I'll put it on, take it down for inspection, come home and take it back off. Most Muscle/Pony cars I see here in WI don't put them on. I don't think the cops really care.
