Front Crash bar delete

Has anyone done this, and be worth it?
Weight saving, and a cleaner look thru grill.
From bumper is coming off, so I’ll be right there.

I didn’t know if it ruins the dexterity of the alignment
Of the front.

Dexterity of the alignment?

I believe the plastic is part of the grille so you would have to cut it out of the grille to remove it.

I often thought about doing it myself. What I was most concerned about is if I broke down how would they tow the car since the tow bar threads into the bumper support (I believe).

it looks like the bumper was sectioned in the middle but end sections remaining.

How much weight savings are we talking about?

What kind of detrimental effect would it have on safety?

I’m guessing in the 10# range is all. .

It would definitely Have a huge effect on your front collision, wouldn’t take much to have a issue. But, I think even if it was there it would still have pretty big issue if you hit anything.

It might also help getting air to the HX maybe, all this is just assuming. .

I used to work as an engineer at the company that makes these "bumpers" / "crash-bars" / "bumper beams" (lots of different names for the same part).

The bar is there to allow the car to meet front and offset front impact rating requirements. Either from another vehicle, and in some cases for taller vehicles, to push pedestrians over the top instead of being run over (mostly a European standard though). The beam is meant to absorb energy in this type of impact and is designed to deform and absorb as much of the load as possible before your frame takes a beating. Really, it is only meant for 5-12mph impact, more than that and it doesn't do a whole lot.

That all being said, I have removed one on a previous vehicle to help frontal cooling through an intercooler. But, I would hate to have an accident and then get an insurance claim denied because a structural component was removed. Like anything; mod at your own level of risk.

If it was a drag-race only application, I would delete it without hesitation (weight savings and better cooling).
