I just checked my extended GM warranty which was purchased on 3/22/19. Car had 9621 miles. Contract is 60/60000. Expired on 4/2024 or 70621 miles. Mine was purchased from Dennis for $958 and is platinum plan zero deductible.
Warranty had to be purchased before the bumper to bumper expired. The factory warranty activation date was 12/16, so bumper to bumper expired on 12/19 and I am now riding on my extended warranty. Had to use it once for fans that would have cost me over $1k so it already paid for itself. No issues using it and it is good at any gm dealership. I know that this is not bumper to bumper but pretty darn close. Covers all major areas. |

Will it get used???? Maybe. Will it provide peace of mind? Yes. Before I happened upon this thread I was in a thread titled "Camaro least reliable model" on this very forum. I won't comment on that but it does support the value of Pauly's purchase. Have a peaceful night everyone. Jeff |

Thanks for updating us on Mieholt and Dennis. I bought mine from Dennis so when and if I extend again I will call him at Laural.

Gm barely warranties anything with a new car purchase. Let alone further out. Waste of money. If it wasn't a waste of money they wouldn't be selling it.

Extended warranties have to be priced above the cost of the average claim otherwise they'd lose money on 'em.
So if it cost $3K+ to extend, the chances of you paying that much out in unscheduled repairs before the warranty time period runs out (most Camaras are lower miles), are pretty low for a reliable car. And if a car needs an extended warrany to be "reliable", it isn't. Manufacturers count on "it might happen to me" to sell 100% of warranties to those who buy them, while <5% will ever recoup the cost over the warranty period. The deck is stacked against you. |

Does having a RotoFab intake affect buying and using a GM Ext Warranty?

The person I spoke to when I purchased mine said no mods. My local dealer said some things would be over looked but to be careful. I had asked about changing the exhaust and he said they would not repair anything associated with that system if it failed. My brothers 2017 Silverado's engine just failed, 2 cylinders full of antifreeze and they replaced his and he had an exhaust and flashed the PC so who knows.

I told the f&i guy I didn’t want anything of what he was selling. Then he wanted me to sign that he presented it and I didn’t want it. I told him the only things I’m signing for are the loan and the title. Or I’m taking my substantial down payment and going home.
Dealers still don’t get it. They have an ingrained bad reputation with people for very good, fundamental reasons. ALL dealers, no matter how good you think “your” guy is, are rip off artists trying to get every dime out of you from the very second you step on the lot. You must remain vigilant, informed, guarded, and on your toes when buying a car. Any car, any mfg. except Tesla, because they made it right. Too bad dealer franchise laws will forever prevent the rest of the mfgs from taking over sales from insipid franchises. Trust no dealer. Ever. |
