ZL1 Question
I read an article about a ZL1 vs Shelby GT500. The Article claims the new ZL1 has a 7.2 or 7.8 V8 with 700+ HP.
Last I checked a ZL1 6.2 Supercharged V8 with 650 HP and I've yet to find any year or model that says otherwise (and yes this supposed ZL1 with 700+ HP was supposedly stock from Chevy so not a modified car) anyone heard of that? |

Sounds like your source is a little off the mark.

Even if it were a Hennessy (who makes overpriced garbage) I don't think they stroke out the engine.
Whatever you read, that either wasn't a stock ZL1 (and they said it was) or it is a stock ZL1 and the person writing it didn't proof read their article. The 6th gen ZL1 is still a 6.2 supercharged V8 making 650 HP. |

Well while we're on the subject. I though the ZL1 (non 1le) was the 2and fastest stock non exotic/supercar? I know it wont stand a chance against a Hellcat but I thought it was faster than any version of Mustang, yet the article has the gt500 shelby beating it by .01 seconds (also when I say fastest I'm speaking straight line and not track)

I consider anything most "normal" ppl cant afford/dont have to be an exotic/supercars. Sure a ZL1 is $70,000 but that's obtainable. Houses cost more than that. Something like a Lamborghini or a Buggati however now too many "normal" ppl have those, unless you're a celebrity cars like that are just a dream. Also when I say Hellcat I'm talking Redeye or Demon not base Hellcat, those are supposedly the fastest straight line non exotic/supercars |

Having seen a bunch of "normal" guys race their Demon's at the track, I think a SS gives it a good run on any given night. Most guys just blow the tires and can never recover. All those magazine numbers are not obtained by guys like me. Even the camaro numbers are professional drivers. Lot harder for a regular Joe to tame 800+ HP than it is 455.

Well if you were talking about the track then you're absolutely right. A more experienced driver could still beat you in an "inferior" car. But if you're drag racing two automatic (not manual) vehicles then it's different. I mean how much skill do you need to drive in a straight line in a LONG STRETCH on track with no turns and no other traffic? |
