I came out of Costco yesterday and got a warning that my hood was open. Thought here we go again, I already had the hood latch sensor replaced 3 months ago. But this time, in fact the hood was open. How the hell did that happen? I did not open the hood. Anybody have this happen before?

Hood was either not closed properly or someone tried to get into it. Its still a mechanical latch i think so no electrical latch to malfunction

Somebody probably tried to break in unless you opened it before you went to Costco . Then you would have noticed it then. Probably trying to get a battery( what else can they take quick) but to there suprise there’s none in there it’s in the trunk.

did your alarm go off? If I pop my hood after it's armed, the car goes batshit crazy.

Alarm did not go off. Obviously drove to Costco, no issues. I doubt someone at Costco tried to break in the car, it was 11AM, and the place was packed.

Did you accidentally hit the release getting out? Kinda hard to do, but maybe...

I have big feet , i hit the hood release with my left foot at least once a week when i get out
