I am all about that manual. Something about rowing my own gears.....being in total control of when to shift.......the connection to the car........feeling one with my car. Is the auto faster, yep. Do I care? Nope!

Love manual cars! If I wanted an auto I would have gotten the CTS V!

All my personal cars are manuals. I travel a lot and am able to get the Camaro SS's for rentals a lot and obviously they're automatics. Definitely not as much fun and there are too many gears with the A10; when you play with the paddles you almost lose track of what gear you're in. I was able to rent one of the 750hp Hendrick ZL1's for a couple days and you're constantly blowing through gears. Manuals are much funner to me.

Yes you do - when you lose - and it will happen

Haven't lost yet in the almighty A10, it is peerless. No need for paddles, just put it in track mode and it shifts as aggressive as they come. Try it before you judge. M cars love to play but go away disappointed (and often really pissed off) - this car is nonstop entertainment

I'm way passed street racing BS and there is always someone faster than me at the track any way so I don't care when I "lose."

I lose when I don't have fun, which is very rare in the M6 ZLE for me and lot of us that love the MT.

My exact feelings as well. It’s all for the enjoyment. Worrying about losing is a losing battle and not how I get enjoyment.

I hear ya man there is always going to be someone on the road as soon as they see your ZL1 and going to want to ride next to you and test you. So track mode is the most responsive? Doesn’t it turn off traction control and leave you with limited grip? A salesman has told me this before and suggested sport mode as the better way to go as it is still responsive while the car still has traction control on.

Also wouldn’t tour mode be just as good and all you have to do is blip the throttle to raise the rpms when you sense someone coming up on you and just nail it? Or do you feel like you have to take that second to quickly switch it to track or sport every time when getting ready for a run against someone?

I don't even know where these off track "battles" happen, not where I live :-) I wish I had time for $hit like that.

I recently watched some videos of large organized groups of guys with 1200-1600+ turbo Vipers, Huracans, modded GT-Rs roll racing on freeways up to 200 MPH at night and I couldn't believe this was a thing. They claim it's in "Mexico", obviously an untrue disclaimer for YouTube policy based on the street and freeway signs and fast food/gas station parking lots they meet up in. 99.9% of modded ZL1 A10 or M6 owners here will be left 1/4 mile behind by these cars, they are light speed fast :-)

The money and time they spend for this street racing hobby are ridiculous, packages start at $65k. And in the video one Viper caught fire on the freeway, and another blew a huge crack in the intake mani (and probably internal motor shrapnel) due to bad nitrous system--not surprised. The guy was like "oh well could have been worse", he's looking at a minimum $10k to get his rig back on the Mexican freeway.

If I had the money and time for this, I would spend it on a Pista or 720S and lots of track days.

What car # did you rent? I just purchased one, and will be converting it to full 1LE trim and planning to use for some time attack events.

Best regards,
Dave

The ZL1 I had was SN 0018 out of MCO
I also got one of the SS's, it was SN 0184

The ZL1 was a lot of fun, very fast. The only problem is it accelerates so fast that you really stay in it too long to have fun. 0 to 60 is no fun, 0 to 100 mph is what you end up doing. I've only seen two of the ZL1's up for sale so far, they're sold within a day it looks like. I wanted to rent the ZL1 again but the bankruptcy caused them to sell them off too early, your gain though.

Yeah, exactly. I've actually been involved in the purchase of 4 ZL1's so far. Car #'s 4, 7, 9 and haven't received the car # on the fourth one yet. They are extremely hard to get, sell within the same day, and they are receiving 1,000's of inquiries a week when they're listed.

I sold #4 to a collector. #7 and #9 are for my buddy and I. and the fourth one to another racer friend of mine.

Congrats on your SS as well! Hendrick's might have a VIN Spec Card for you if you didn't get one... PM me your vin, and I'll reach out to them for you, their locating mine now.

Best regards,
Dave
