Yeah that's what I had to get used to doing... but I still want it gone.

You can buy a skip-shift eliminators on ebay/amazon for $10, they're simple to install and won't void any warranty and easily removable if you are concerned.

I hate the hill assistant I have the v6 camaro and it will turn on while I'm on a slight incline but won't on big step hills and for some reason mine makes my car bog super hard. If you know how to drive a manual you shouldn't need it been driving manual since I turned 16 and never once needed a computer to help me start on a hill

Why would anyone want to disable hill assist? I have driving manuals since 1978 and it helps and I don’t really like it but it doesn’t bother me enough to disable the feature.

I think you have to make a complete stop for it to work. It can get a little weird if you are not use to it. It is like you have been driving 40+ years with total control of this situation and now the computer wants to take control.

Sounds like yours just ain’t working right. I’ll be at an uphill light, in neutral, foot off clutch and on brake. Light turns green quickly release brake and go to throttle and clutch, put it in first gear, smoothly yet quickly release clutch and feed throttle, smooth start. All of this within a second or so.

Edit: when I release the brake pedal, the car holds it for me until I release the clutch a certain amount. That’s the Hill-Start assist working.

Just avoid hills, then no problem

The hill assist is even on my A8, which makes no sense. I did like it on my previous 1SS M6.

What the "hill assist" should be in both M6 and A8, IMO is the "Hold" feature that comes with the Porsche Macan. Just press the brake pedal a little deeper then the hold light comes on and you can take your foot off the brake and then wait for the light to turn green. It deactivates when tapping the gas pedal. It's freaking great!

Has anyone experimented with popping fuses? I wouldn't mind losing some other useless functionality if it means not having to deal with this irritating hill start assist.
