My Miata was black and white too, so I call the Camaro my Fat Miata.

Before my previous SS 1LE, I had a '12 GTI modded with suspension, big turbo, exhaust, intake, and flash. 316 whp, which isn't far off, in weight to power, from an SS. I really miss the light weight and size. It was point and shoot. It handled close to my 1LE, but not as refined because the suspension was not a factory designed set up. I was considering a Golf R, which makes good power with a flash and down pipe, but almost $40k for just the car didn't cut it, considering the 1LE was only a couple of grand more.

I went from a Harley Softail to a Fiat 124 Spider thinking that the Fiat would take the place of the bike, Boy was I wrong. Traded the Spider for my 2SS vert and couldn't be happier!

I came from a modified 2008 E92 335i which I bought brand-new. I drove it to 160K miles but I got tired of fixing it. I would have gotten a Civic Type R had it been out by the time I was shopping for a new car. It just happened that I read a lot of a good things about the SS 1LE at the time and there was one available when I visited my parents over President's Day weekend a few years ago

Before the BMW I had a modified 350Z as well

Of course they don't have the presence and overall fun factor of the Camaro, but for what they are they are a great value. Plus if you're getting a V8 then there really is no comparison, and you could get a LT1 for the same price as that type r
I mean Honda Accords last probably as long as anything on the road, they're built to last forever. And they are lighter and remember the V6 is the flagship engine in the Accord, they feel on par with a V6 Camaro to me, power-wise. I won't get into the V6 vs V8 thing right now though.

As for moving from a ricer to Camaro - no, I've never liked Euro coupes, and 90% of them sound like weed eaters. Especially the ones with cheap mods. I love my SS, but if I wasn't driving it I'd want a truck or vette.

Honda discontinued the J-series V6 in the Accord for 2018. They replaced it with a detuned version of the Civic Type R 2.0 turbo 4 with about 255 hp and 280 lb/ft tq. You can still get it with a 6 speed manual though

I hear you man. My girl and I bought our cars within a couple months of each other brand new (my 18 Camaro and her 19 Accord) so it will be interesting to see which one holds up better. I honestly feel like the fit and finish is very similar between the two, but I will be pleasantly surprised if the Camaros motor, powertrain, etc... all holds up as well as the Accords after 100k.

IMO the longevity of the Camaro will be worse than Accord... because an average Camaro driver will likely drive their car way harder than an average Accord driver, and that increases wear. It's hard to make a fair long-term test comparing the two unless either the Camaro is softly driven the whole time or you drive the living crap out of the Accord.

And even Accords had its misses before, the 8th Gen V6 with A5 was notorious with VCM(cylinder deactivation). 9th Gens seem pretty solid, while we will have to see how the turbo K20C holds up. My 8th Gen K24 worked fine. No major issues, but it does make that VTC rattle on cold start and it burns some oil.

Again, different cars. 2.0T Accord is kind of a hot Sedan if that makes sense.

I sold my 2018 SS and got a 2017 Jaguar XE 3.0L Supercharged AWD. I needed something a little more usable with a backseat. I miss the camaro, but this Jag is an amazing car to drive. Has great get up and go and feels super well built.

Good point on how it's driven vs how it wears. In our case both cars get driven in a similar fashion 95% of the time. Since it's just a V6 and my daily, I baby it for the most part. When I'm in my SS that's a different story lol. I agree the "hot sedan" description fits the 2.0 Accord well.

I'll have to admit, I'm a ricer from way back and this is my first time owning a Chevy. All the cars I've owned were mainly Toyotas with a Mazda and Honda sprinkled in (all manual transmissions). My Camaro is the best handling I've owned and I definitely enjoy the handling and creature comforts.

I crossed shopped with the BRZ but bought my Camaro (2.0T) since it was far more bang for the buck. It'll be interesting to see if my Camaro will last 200K+ miles as my last two cars.

Below are my ricers (I don't own these anymore):
- 1980 Celica GT (modded before "ricers" hit the scene): lowered, dual Mikuni carbs, headers, exhaust, Centerforce clutch, shortened shifter
- 1987 RX-7 Turbo: stock
- 2000 Honda Civic SI: CAI
- 2010 Scion xB: lowered, sway bar, CAI, exhaust

Last two cars were daily drivers/commuters and so is my Camaro. BTW, I also got my wife's 1988 Celica GTS which was just sitting in the garage running again and I usually drive that for quick trips to the store or on weekends.

Well, I own a 2017 SS 1LE and 2 Accords. A 2009 EX-L and a 2018 Accord 2.0T.

The 2018 Accord has been a tremendous disappointment. Build quality is sub-par to the 2009. Everything feels cheap. The hood flutters at highway speeds, the cabin is noisy, the turbo 4 sounds like a hamster is being thrashed to death and the 10-speed auto is an abomination. It has no idea what gear it wants to be in at any given moment. Honda just thought 10 speeds would be great because, 'moar gears'!. A 255hp motor doesn't have any need for 10-speeds.

As for comparing the handling of the Accord vs the finest front engine/RWD platform on the planet...just no.

I'm a Honda fan. I have owned a 1985 Accord, a 1993 Acura Integra GS-R, a few Civics and my current two. I am anxiously awaiting the new TLX Type-S to replace the 2018 for my wife.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like your experience is a little different than mine for sure. The only thing I can agree with you on is some of the exterior build quality and the hood flutter. The interior fit and finish, and the buttons and whatnot feel much better to me. As far as sound I think it's one of the better sounding turbo 4"s out there, Certainly better than the turbo 4 Camaro. And the Honda10 speed auto vs the GM 8 speed auto is no comparison IMO. That 10 speed is better in every way over the 8 speed in my RS. While the handling at the absolute limit might be slightly better in my RS V6, around public streets and general roads they are very similar. Personally, the Accord is not for me, but overall I'm quite impressed with it for what it is.

I agree that new Acura looks very interesting for sure.
