Got it - thx!

Ken is a good guy, but as you proly know XP12 have the least longevity of any Carbotech pad? That's per official Carbotech advice. So keep that in mind, as you may be spending good $ on pads alone if ya go that route.

If your car is a true DD swapping pads could be a good way to go. But if only occasional and to/from then DTC60 seems to perform well under dual duty if you wish an aggressive pad (second hand opinion but very trusted source).

Shims are mandatory with them and vented pistons will help as well. It is an absolute BS that stock Ferodos will last 1 or 2 days. Ive run my car at 7 different venues over 60 track days and ive averaged 5 hard days with material to spare for at least another day or two.
But i swap mine early as i often run 3 day events and even with 2 i dont want to f up the rotors (been there done it on my previous car). Btw my sessions are 30mins and sometimes 45mins and i dont run cool down laps.

Also, it is much easier to learn how to trail brake on lower vs higher torque pads. And trail braking is crucial for fast laps. Even top shelf pro teams often choose low to mid torque pads because it is easier to modulate them.
This is GM factory team, type of pros btw. Cheers!

I don't know man. I have seen them half gone after one day and almost done in a couple days in photos shared here or on the Facebook group maybe your tracks or the climate is not as bad as others? I think I would be ok with OEM pads if I had larger ZL1/ZLE brake system as it's designed to handle the sticky SC3R tires from factory but no way I could use OEM pads with my SS 1LE, it has to do with driving style maybe..late braking with OEM pads wouldn't work for me as ST 47s (or ST43s) are barely enough

Speaking of ST43s, I trailbrake the sh.t out of my cars and never had any issues so far with them having more initial bite. They're definitely not like on/off switch when you get used to them.

That said, for the first timers, I also wouldn't recommend race pads.. just fresh Dot4 fluid and track alignment would be just fine IMO

I know you love STs and i respect that. I really like stock Ferodos Ive run at 7 different tracks at good pace and had zero issues and good longevity. I guess we will just have to respect both our opinions Cheers!
