They also help cool the oil and the rear diff not just the engine.

All of a sudden, they are necessary or you'll kill the car?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ature=emb_logo FF to :43 and he talks about this My buddy had a BB Nova that ran on alky and he had a little 12x12 radiator out of a VW Sirocco. No issues. Some drag blocks are solid (no water passages) like this LS version. https://noonanrace.com/products/ls-e...d-engine-block So, sorry, can't buy what you're saying.

Trans/diff cooler is separate from the aux radiators (lays down horizontally under the main radiator).

But don'y they somehow tie into the engine cooling system? I saw a video somewhere (YouTube I think) that showed how the diff cooler, tranny cooler, and engine cooling system all work together in some capacity. But it was a while ago so I'm not sure.

Along with the X brace, the SS vert also comes with a strut tower brace.

![]() But yea I am sure the cooling is fine for the street and the drags. No worries. No long term engine damage at all.And I am sure the LT1 will be fine at a beginner track day as well. Chevy considers every SS a potential track car. Not just the 1LE. That is a track step up. Now did they have to leave out the tow hook? Big mistake for this Camaro version. But now that I see where the tow hook went why cant we drill through the bumper to put one on with nuts on both sides? Or is the hole there but covered? Maybe already tapped?

If removing those external coolers is a issue, the coolant temps will increase. So if the temps are staying in the t-stat and computers programmed range, then cooling isn't a issue. I bet 95% of the people that own these cars are not using these cars in a manner where any of the external coolers are even needed. That is all road course stuff where the car sees sustained rpm for hours on end. For street driving and 1/4 mile passes, a single radiator is more then sufficient. You don't even need the diff, oil, and trans coolers. Well I take that back, the trans cooler would still be beneficial if you have a higher stall converter. I can see these coolers being standard for the 1LE, but most people buying SS cars do not track them in a manner to need this all of this stuff. I am not saying it's a bad thing, but there is no need to put the OP on the chopping block because he removed some stuff to save weight that he likely will never need. The fact that the LT1 model does not have this stuff further supports my point.

My F-body didn't have launch control or Line lock from the factory either. Its called improvements.Just cause some yahoo wants to remove the cooling to save 20 pounds, doesn't make it a good idea.

Fraxum: If I'm not mistaken, the LT1 does have an oil cooler installed.

I think it does actually...I was just generalizing based on the fact that GM released the LT1 model sans most of the external cooling options.

It definitely is not going to hurt anything to remove them, lol. I came from a 1000+ hp 4th gen to this car and it only had, guess what?, one radiator. My 6th gen will have around 1200ish hp and we have already removed one of them to make room for all of the extra stuff and might remove the other, it will be just fine.
