Question Bridgestone Potenza S007 HELP

Has anyone used the Bridgestone Potenza S007 in Time Attack or SCCA Time Trials... or even just on a track day? That's all I can source last minute.

I didn't realize I can't use the OEM Tire in SCCA without being dumped into Unlimited which is absolutely ridiculous.

if these tires completely suck I wont bother spending the money and I'll just drop into unlimited.

*****VERDICT: THEY ARE AWEFUL. NO GRIP. JUST TERRIBLE

Never used them because I don't do time attack, but I did a Google search and they should do well.

I’ve run Bridgestone RE-11s (the predecessor to the S007) on both a C6 and a GT350 I owned previously and liked them. Grip was a slight step up from the Michelin Pilot Super Sport of the day, so I would think the S007 would be in the ballpark of today’s Pilot Sport 4S. Longevity/treadwear will be FAR superior to your OEM Goodyear 3Rs (I corded one of my fronts in ONE DAY of hard track driving).

IMO, the best 200+TW ZLE tire for time trials/autocross is the Goodyear Supercar 3 (non-R) if you can get a set. I’ve been running them this year, and they’re really good.

The S007A is a step below the RE-71R.

I've only used them on the streets and back roads but really like them and they do offer pretty good grip.

Thanks for the feedback. I am told the RE71 does not come in a 325/30/19. I'm going to try them out and see what I can get. I tried to get Supercar 3's and Cup2's but no luck in my area.

I used to think so as well and have run many sets of RE71R on several different cars. And if a 325 rear was available for the ZLE they would probably still be the best tire for TT/autocross. However, the SC3s are available in 325 widths, and I’ve found they much better suit our cars. I swapped from 305 RE71Rs to OEM fitment SC3s for this season of autocross and track use and have found noticeably more grip from the Goodyears.

Thank you for the responses. The S007's were terrible.... Terrible cold, terrible warm and like driving on grease when hot. There was a Yokahama Tire Engineer at the track who was able to take tire temps for me which were only 20 degrees varied from inside to outside. Given the super long front straight he said the setup was great. The tires just don't work for this car on track. This was an expensive lesson...

If you are comparing them to the G3Rs, that's a no brainer that they were that bad. Have you run any other 200+TW tires on the car?

Plenty of Cup2 s on Tire Rack and should be delivered to you with 2-3 days max. Cup2s come in sizes you want like 305/325, I run 315/30/19-F, 345/30/19-R on my ZLE. You do want to relocate the drivers side rear wheel well wiring harness but only takes 45-60 min. and other than that they fit great under heavy track use.
