During my first test drive in an SS, I was so blown away by the sound and racecar-like feel that I barely noticed the poor visibility and cramped cabin. The car was so overwhelming that I didn't pay attention to the poor ergonomics or lack of storage space either. Now after two years with the 1LE, my opinion is that the Camaro is full of compromises. For how I use it - as a weekend/nice weather/fun car - it's pretty much perfect. The performance is off the charts in its price range. It has an impressive list of standard features (how many cars in this segment have a Head-Up Display, heated/ventilated seats, and heated steering wheel?) And what sub-$50K car looks more menacing? I'm a casual, once-per-year HPDE track guy, and that is absolutely where this car shines. If that's how you plan on using it, it's hard to beat. But, eventually I want to downsize to a single car, and for me personally, the Camaro has too many compromises to live with on a daily basis. The M235i was more bland and less exciting performance-wise, but as a daily driver, it was the better car in almost every measure. Better overall quality, ride quality, fuel economy, ergonomics, storage, visibility, smaller and lighter. I haven't settled on what that perfect future daily driver might be - maybe an EV? Or a BMW M2 Competition to stay with manual? I just know the Camaro would not be my first choice if I decide to go with one vehicle.

It depends on what you're buying it for. I'm a huge muscle car addict but that serves a different god. In that realm, from a kid in the 70's and 80's I've owned... Mach 1 Mustang 460 BB Mustang Drag car (3) Challengers 340/440/440 Hemi Barracuda (not originally) Hemi GTX (2)RoadRunners (1) Satellite 340 Dart 440 Duster (2) Chevelle 327/496 350 Camaro (I've probably missed some) As a grown up lol, I've built around a dozen similar cars and currently have a 66 502 Chevelle in the back garage and another project or two on deck. That said, there are many time in my life where I had to travel quite a bit for work. I'm just not going to do it in some econo box and I'm sure not going to do it in a 5 mpg Chevelle. So something imported, with some sporty tendencies and 30mpg fit in a fair bit better. Not to mention impeccable quality and service. Those cars NEVER saw a dealer, with 100k miles on them. It's only in the last few years that my commute has dropped to just a few miles thus my daily drivers since have been either Corvettes (Z06) or the last two Gen 6s. There's a C8 Z51 order somewhere with my name it, if they ever start building it again. Essentially the right tool for the job....IMO. |

Having said that, even when I've been in the 'job appropriate' car, I've always wanted the V8 RWD experience. I'll be getting a truck 'for' my wife next summer. If things go right it will be a Raptor, cause that's probably as close to a muscle car experience as you can get in a truck. |

My previous 2 cars were both Mazdas.
The last one was a 2.5 hatchback. I only drive manuals, and both of the Mazdas had wimpy synchros and/or grabby gears that had to be milled down in order not to grind. No problems with the 6 speed Camaro for 16k now! |

Edit: I did some more looking, and for reference the 370z pulls .89g, the BRZ .90g, and the Ecoboost Mustang .92. Those are probably what I would consider the closest competitors

I guess unless it's the 1LE V6 (which uses summer tires) then the regular V6 and Accord both use all seasons from the factory. Since the Camaro is RWD, that alone should help it over the Accord even if they were on the exact same chassis. I wonder if the new Accord chassis could be very competitive with the Alpha, if all else was equal.
