You’re confused. Or ignorant. It was Bangle. Hooydonk worked with/for Bangle at the time. The buck stopped with Bangle on that failure. Seriously. And there’s nothing today that resembles that monstrosity. A few cars did back in 2003 but that’s it.

Not sure what you’re trying to prove but you’re way off here. Bangle got his ass reamed (no pun intended) in all the car magazines at the time and BMW couldn’t get the refreshed 7 out fast enough after that...... do I need to provide you with links to the articles to refresh your memory?

There’s this for starters:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wir...-bangle-le/amp

Kind of explains the whole thing just as I remember it. That monstrosity of a 7 rump ended his career.

I didn't say he didn't design that, in fact it is listed in the article from wikipedia that I quoted initially. Perhaps educate yourself and research before assuming.

That car didn't end his career, he now heads up his own studio and does quite well. His design language of flame surfacing has since spread across every manufacturer and is even evident on the car you own.

From YOUR article that YOU posted:

We've never warmed to the 7, but in Bangle's defense, it must be said that van Hooydonk was equally responsible for the car's ample ass.

Now, what was your point?

The point is Bangle was where the buck stopped on that car. Maybe you’re just trying to be an arrogant ass or blind to the fact that Bangle was Hooydonk’s boss, I don’t know nor do I care. The bottom line is that Bangle is still what I initially said that he was squarely to blame for the 7 series fiasco and it ended his career. Having a little self employed design studio in Italy is not the same as being a major player in automotive design. He got laughed out of the business. The paragraph you quoted is just the writer being pc. When Time magazine votes it one of the 50 worst car designs ever, you need all the apologists in your corner you can find.

And Ed Welburn designed my rear end. If you see a millimeter of resemblance to that ass end of the 2001 7 series you’re more blind than you think.

BMW always looked like a womans car. So many woman drive them.

They had to do something, they have had the same front end for what seems like 50 years now.

Looks better than the 2019 to current Camaro (save ZL1) front end to me... (shrug). Might not be subtle, but at least it doesn't look like an afterthought.

The grille is probably their most signature piece, I'm stunned they would swap it out for a pair of buck teeth.

It's not like they have't used large grille vents before.....

BMW's made mistakes before. I've owned 3 and been left stranded by them more than my domestics.

Thankfully, GM designed a much better looking non SS front end and made a new model trim option (LT1) where you can get it with the V8.

Right. I'm sure they don't have to build them to a price point to satisfy the accountants or accomodate for the needs of engineers. Put simply, it isn't any one person's "fault." BMW has an active, voting board of directors. I'm sure you can understand your fallacies NOW?

The irony is this is exactly the kind of pathetic character attack an arrogant ass would make.

I know you don't know, you keep demonstrating that while you're changing your argument. You have no point.

He chose to leave BMW because he had made the impact he wanted. That impact, which you keep ignoring, is still influencing everything on the road today from your Camaro to the current Camry. That is how designers measure success, I'll understand your lack of familiarity with the concept.

Shame on him for supporting his family while being self-employed! Have you seen his house? I don't think he's hurting as you describe lmao.

He got copied by pretty much every manufacturer and still is today.

Oh so now you don't like the example you provided because it doesn't suit your narrative. That says more than enough, BUT;

Here you're doubling-down on the stupidity. You are literally inventing something that has never happened in order to prove a point that you can't otherwise. Cool, good show.

I don't think you need to be super literate or highly educated to see where I never said that. I specifically referenced the flame surfacing to the Camaro. I guess if you can't win your stupid little argument you have to change it around and put words on someone else's post? Doesn't work.

I do hope you have gained some understanding of your lack of knowledge and inability to properly debate. I'd suggest leaving the personal attacks out, but you've just made them so easy for me to turn back around.

There I go again, inventing something that has never happened.

Wow what an ignorant ass am I.
