Eagle F1 Supercar 3R's on the street?

So I just ordered some new rims for the SS. I'll be running a 10 inch rim/285's in the front and 11/305's in the back.

Decided to go with the Eagle Supercar 3R's.

This is a summer only vehicle. Is it overkill for a street car?

Grip will be amazing. Not gonna last a while thought. Get an alignment done at the same time.

Depends on what you want out of the car. The SC3R will be super grippy but will wear out pretty fast. In terms of "overkill" for the street, I'd say yeah because chances are you're not going to get max lat on the street, but the same could probably be said about the non-R version on those tires (although not as much overkill with the SC3).

And also agree that you'll want an alignment or at least a check. Alignment is kinda a mixed bag from the factory, so there's likely room for improvement that will reduce tire wear.

Way overkill for the street and you are going to be replacing them very quickly. They are actually horrible for normal driving because they need heat in them to be sticky.

Yes, planning on an alignment. Recently added BMR front and rear cradle braces. Was waiting to get the tires so I could get it all done in one shot.

Yeah, you guy's are probably right. Maybe a bit of overkill.
Just want a great handling summer car. My Camaro has 900 miles, probably won't get too much beyond another 2k miles this year.

Well I ordered em, so I'm going to find out!

Will probably last you all of those 2K miles...I joke but yes, this year and may be next is what kind of mileage you could expect; <10K.

THIS, mostly.

If the intention is to drive them hard for some mountain runs or canyon carving, you can get enough heat in them to take advantage of their grip level.

If you are just daily driving and not going a long distance, I doubt you will get them to their optimum temp. to extract their potential.

I find I do great with the standard SC3 tires. I got the track alignment and then went a little further on the neg. camber to around -2.4 in the front and -1.6 in the rear and I can get 1.2 lateral G's on them on the on/off ramps near me. That is plenty for me on the street. I am not sure you will get much more from the SC3 R, maybe an additional .05 G's, not worth the extra cost and wear IMO.

They are like ice skates until you get them warm. If the ambient temps are in the 90's then you will be fine. I have had both the ZL1 and now the 1LE version and they are hard to get warm on the 1LE but once you do they grip like no other.

Just watch it if the temps are below 70 as they will not have good grip for awhile. It usually take me at least 10 miles at highway speeds to even get them close to warm at those temps. I have 2300 miles on mine and they are still fine. I do have the track alignment on my car as well.

Okay guy's, you convinced me.

Was able to change my order to the Super Car 3's, not R's. Getting them installed on Friday.

As always, appreciate the informative feedback!

Good idea! If you ever find yourself chasing laptimes and really want one of the best tires, then buy the 3Rs.
