I think that’s good Steve. I’m impressed how fast they have turned this around so far. I’m also of the same thinking as you and the other guys. Try to get extra warranty time. You have nothing to lose.

I got a call from Hendrick Chevrolet around 5pm yesterday (5/14/2020). They said she was 99% done.

But, during re-assembly, the AC belt snapped. So, they are getting a new one this morning. Since I read somewhere here on the forum that some guys had the supercharger belt fail, I asked them to put a new supercharger belt on as well. So, the cost of the new SC belt will be the only thing they charge me for when I pick her up.

That is $110 of feel good. I would hate to get it back and have that belt go on me. Better safe than sorry.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I got my baby back this morning. Motor feels just as strong as ever. Oil pressure is now running around 38psi at idle and I was seeing 50psi while driving.

One note that I will ask the dealer on Monday is whether or not they put it on the alignment rack before I picked it up.

Why you ask? Well, they never actually pulled the motor out. When I saw it on Thursday, it was on a rack. They had pulled the front sway bar and the rack out of the way. Then disassembled the front of the motor, pulled the oil pan and the windage tray.

The front end does not feel as stable and firm as it did before this. My suspicion is that after reassembly, they didn't do an alignment.

Glad to have her back though...

Before or after the pump failure?

Before the pump failure, I don't remember ever seeing the pressure above 42psi even at temp.

With the new pump, I was seeing 55 to 58 psi after 15min of driving at 70mph.

This was in 87 degrees yesterday with humidity. Remember: I am in North Carolina. And the damn humidity is back...

Dude, I totally forgot to ask. Was in a hurry to get to my Dad's house when picking up the car. Dad has chronic back pain and needed me to bring my Son over to help him with some yard work.

But, when I go over to the dealer tomorrow to ask about the alignment, I will ask about the case number with GM that they are using to get parts and labor reimbursement, so that I can inquire about this from Chevrolet.

Seems high, I agree with the previous statement. 0W-40?

Sorry to hear this. Let us know how it goes. What was the hot idle oil pressure in the weeks leading up to the failure?

I was thinking. The ones that have had a failed oil pump, do you make sure it is marked on your service record? Just curious if it would help retail sale if you go to sell it. That way a buyer knows it is not a issue if they are interested.
