Just sold my 2010 SS and purchased a 2018 with 900 miles, and it has GM Performance axle back mufflers on it. I was thinking about just adding a drop in filter and changing the air intake tube for a small change.

Question is, on the 2010 I made the same changes (with Borla mufflers instead) and it made the car hesitate so I added SXT - X4 tuner to fix the problem. Since I have 2 year warranty still I would rather not install a tuner yet and didnt know if those changes would cause this car to hesitate also or not.

I did a drop in filter a while back, and will be doing the Airaid intake tube here in a few days. I went this route so it would look stock. Everything I've read has reported no issues, so I'll know for sure in a few days

Street Glide, you might be happier with a Chevy Performance CAI system or maybe even a Roto Fab Intake. Either one would give you a slight hp increase, some intake noise and look good under the hood!��

The Chevy Performance CAI comes with a tune that a Chevy dealer has to do and is included in the price of the intake and the Roto Fab runs off of the stock tune.

I’d like to do the Chevy Performance CAI because it will not void warranty. But, I can’t find it on the Chevy website anymore. And, does it do much to improve performance. I’ve heard from some that it helps, but others say there is no difference at all.

Do some searching around here. This has been covered a lot.
I think you have to like the looks (and maybe the sound) a whole lot more than the performance gains for this to be "worth it."

Thank you for the info, I will read up on the GM one’s and see what they say didnt know they came with a factory tune. If I just do a drop in to keep the factory look, I can try one piece at a time to see if they cause any hesitation.

I checked with the GM parts service department about the OEM GM cold air intake with the tune, and why? Because it doesn't list any HP gains or advantage of putting one in. The GM service manager came over and told us that there our no power gains with this intake so why spend $500 for GMs intake when others have proven power gains other then looking good and sounding good?

So the service manager says the GM one (with the MAF tune) produces no power, but the aftermarket ones (without the MAF tune) do make power? If I'm getting that right then that guy is total idiot lol. Of course they are all negligible, but that logic is just stupid

It depends on what you want out of a CAI intake but I would say that it does make a slight difference in hp and you hear more intake noise especially the intake for an SS! Looks good too.

Roto Fab, Cold Air Induction both post and show gains from there products. For some reason gm doesn't post or show any results from there cai. If gm would post results i would gladly buy this intake.

Couldn't tell much a difference with my CAI brand Cold air intake by itself. After I did a ported intake manifold and Ported throttle body this LT1 woke up and the butt Dyno felt it.

Hmmm, a lot more to think about now, but sounds like either the drop in, or Roto Fab run fine with the mufflers without a tune, and the GM-CAI with a tune doesn’t make a lot of difference, just keeps it factory. Thanks
