Yes, the ZL1 has AFM. Ask anyone who has disassembled these engines. The difference is the DOD is disabled on these models and doesn’t permit the AFM to enable. The hardware is there and it is coded into the software. It’s just not active. Talk to engine builders who do cam swaps in the Gen 6 ZL1.. they have to change the lifters too due to the AFM lifters in the car from the factory.
