What kind of scratch?

So there was a scooter incident with the side of my driver side door, a friend says its no that bad and can just be cleaned/wiped off. So after he tried that (for 15 mins I might add.... "not that bad" shouldnt take 15 mins but whatever) so now where the scratch is (this is my first time seeing it) the rest of the door is one color and the scratched area that was cleaned is the same color but its a different shade of that color, so I dont see metal or white from paint being peeled or anything but 99% of the door is one color then the line where the scratch should/would be is a different shade of that color so you can tell something happened and someone tried to clean/fix it.

My question is would that fall under a clear coat scratch, primer scratch or a paint scratch?

I'm guessing (without seeing pictures) he rubbed through the clear coat...

Post a good picture and I can give you an idea of what it will take to fix it.
