Both are pretty much the same price. I like the creature comforts of the 2SS and the fact that it has remote start on those hot summer days (it's black).

Will I miss having the stick if i go auto?
help!

Thanks!
OP if you are a manual person then get the M6 or expand your search. Or maybe consider an LT1 which is a 1SS with all seasons but no rear Brembos and no diff and Trans coolers. Those missing things make a 1SS a better track car but street performance except for the tires is exactly the same. SS tire and rim set are a dime a dozen. So the LT1 comes with the winter setup is the way I look at it.

I am a manual guy for sure. I loved my A10 ZL1. That A10 is a totally awesome auto, but in the end I missed the manual. Now if you want to know how much that mistake cost me..... LOL But I am glad I had a chance to experience a ZL1 by renting it for a year.

But now back in a V8 M6 Camaro, this is my keeper.

Also OP a 5th gen 1LE is my favorite 5th gen. I had a 2013.

Since you have a 1LE, test drive at least a manual and an automatic SS, then definitely a magical 6th gen 1LE. You will know what you really want after these test drives.

The A8 hate is strong here, but it's actually a great transmission, GM messed up with the torque converter and the factory tune. If it turns out you fancy the auto trans and want total peace of mind, get a 2019+ with the lower torque spec A10, though.

Just my 2 cents', as usual.
I agree..

The only issue with the A8 is the transmission fluid.. I own two, a 2017 Colorado Z71 and a 2017 2SS. My Colorado started to shutter at 7,000 miles I took it in and had the new recommend Mobil One trans fluid put in and NO issues since. If the owner waits too long to get the service done it can result in damage to the converter. At that point GM will replace both under warranty. That being said it wouldn’t stop me from buying a 8A. Manuals are fun as well buy what makes you happy.
Good luck with the new ride and post pictures when you get what YOU will enjoy.

6M, don't get the 8 speed auto in especially a 2016 or 2017. They can have real bad shudder problems. I bought a new 2017 RS with A8. It was so bad I ditched it after only 6K miles. I now have a 2016 6M, love it, no problems.

A 2018 or any year really 1le 1ss would be a fine choice. 1le goodies, m6, and the 1ss on the 1le keeps costs down. It doesn't have all the 2ss creature comforts, but comes with better seats than a regular 1ss and alcantera.

I used the A8 in my 2016 as my "reasoning" to trade up to my 2020 1LE Lol.

Avoid the A8 and go with a M6. You’ll save yourself a world of hurt and regret later on. Just my 2 cents.

Dont listen to the warranty babies. The A8 is strong and deserves an aftermarket TC. Thats all. Its $1500 to get that out of the way to have one of the baddest autos to come out of GM.

Based on the fact that you asked, yes I’m pretty sure you’ll miss a manual if you go the other way...I know I would.

I have a 2018 Colorado with the same trans - hasn't had the shudder yet, now at 12K miles. I will probably take it in at some point before 20K while it's still under the B2B warranty and tell them it shudders just to get the fluid swap done so I don't have future problems with it. It's a good transmission. I have the M6 in my 2016 SS and prefer a manual pretty much any time it's available. In fact I have 3 with manuals - also a 71 Camaro with a T56 and a E60 M5 with the V10 and the rare 3 pedal 6 speed manual.
But get what you prefer!

Had a '15 1LE, and missed it very much until I got my '19 1LE. It has all the things I liked about my '16 2SS/A8 without the unnecessary stuff. I love it much better.

My 2 cents... actually more like $8 grand... I sold my Corvette C6 Grand Sport M6 with dry sump nd all the track goodies... decided I wanted a Cadillac CTS-V and sold the Corvette.. after 8 months in the automatic Cadillac, I realized I was completely bored driving it. Had no fun factor to it. I sold the Cadillac at a $8k loss after one year and bought another C6, this time a Z06. The fun was back! And I never looked again at an automatic transmission in my fun cars. I do have an automatic in my daily driver pickup truck and wouldn’t have that any other way. When it’s time for fun driving, make mine my 18 SS 1LE please.

You said you miss your 15 SS 1LE,, that makes me believe you also like the m6 transmission in it.
