After oil change stink

So seems like every time I change the oil. The car stinks like burned oil for a week or so, only while driving. I have a lift, so I dont have any spillage on the outgoing fluids underneath. I know I didnt spill any when filling either. I have a special long funnel to avoid and spills in the engine bay. Oil level checks as good.

Even when the dealer does it, same results. It smells like burnt oil for a week or so?

There is chance to spill on the cross brace from the filter, maybe you are getting some there?

Suggest you get one of these if you want to limit spillage from drain: https://www.stahlbus-us.com/oil-drai...steel-set.html

Wipe the pan down after you change, youre probably spilling oil on the motor and letting it burn off.

It could be from the oil filter change out or oil pan drain plug if you're sure that you didn't spill any from the top.

You can wipe the pan and oil filter area visually clean, but it's still there. If you use something like alcohol wipes or whatever to clean it then it should get it off.

This was a common problem on C6 corvettes. I don't think they ever truly proved what caused it but a lot of owners said if they poured the fresh oil in slowly the issue decreased.

+1 on the Stahlbus valve. It drains a little slower, but no mess is well worth it!

I also have spelled this. Kind of like oil burning somewhere but it goes away in time.

There are two sources of oil drips:
1. Filter oil on the aluminum cross brace (it's on the top and blows onto the cats)
2. Checking the oil on the dipstick. Just a drip or two onto the header heat shields takes FOREVER to burn off and stinks for 500 miles.

Solution:
1. Spray the oil pan and adjacent areas with brake cleaner.
2. Put a rag around the top of the dipstick tube BEFORE you pull the dipstick.
3. Go to road course track day and burn all the oil off in 15 minutes.
