Stock exhaust sound change
Hi, 17' SS 6 spd with the dual mode stock setup. Coming up on 35k miles. And after videoing from when new to now I noticed my exhaust sound has changed. It seems to sound better, a little smoother, less raspy and poppy but more of a gravely sound now. Anyone else notice this? Perhaps the steel of the muffler had to season with age from hot to cold and carbon deposits. In any case I have no intension of ever replacing my exhaust now. I had it in the back of my mind but it never really made sense with the Dual mode setup which was an option anyway. Such a waste to throw away a good exhaust we paid extra for.

I totally agree - the stock exhaust sounds perfect. I used to work with the Camaro team, and you would not believe the amount of time they spent getting that exhaust sound just right. And then, at the very last minute they switched to an X from an H. They spent hours doing hole shots and sound comparisons to make sure that they didn't change the note that they had originally bought off on with the H. I don't think a stock exhaust has ever had more engineering time put into it than the 2016 Camaro.

Gotta admit that the large suitcase muffler is a bit unsightly, though, but at least it makes for smoother airflow under the car, practically all aftermarket catback or axleback exhausts introduce random pockets and obstructions.

Spray paint it black - it disappears.
OP - I am very pleased with the NPP and will not change it. I've had my share of all the time loud exhausts and the drone that goes with them. No more - the NPP does the job - I just leave it in Sport and go. I have not noticed any real sound change over 27K miles other than I know it has not gotten quieter.

I love the sound of NPP but I wouldn't mind it being a bit deeper and more rumble, but dont know if that minor change is worth the 1+k for an AWE axleback though.. that being said, the stock tips need to be at least 4" in diameter to fill out the rear bumper well, honestly it looks kind of weird with the gaps between the pipes and the rest of the bumper.

Did a cat delete and the exhaust is pretty loud now. Thanks to Chevy for NPP-the stealth mode makes it tolerable when the wife has to ride shotgun.

In the case of 4.5" tips, I could buy that, but the ZL1 has the same bumper as the SS and uses 4" tips that nowhere touch the bumper and just fill out the rear better. However that could be the reason they went with 3.5" for the SS; to give the ZL1 a further upgrade over it.
