General question about A8
Questions for all the tuning and A8 experts out there please
1. Car has heads/cam/headers/intake/cai etc, etc. Will tuning the TCM provide more power to the wheels? Will it dyno more hp/tq if TCM is tuned? 2. What is the purpose for tuning the TCM? Is it just for better shifting and changing the shift points? Thanks!

RaceprovenMotorsports stated they do it for the trans to shift better. Dont see it would add power but I'm not a tuner.

It doesn't add power on the dyno but it makes the car quicker accelerating. The stock TCM tune pulls timing clear back to zero degrees on the shift and closes the throttle. Then there is a recovery rate where it's added back. A good TCM tune will drop 1/4 mile times 2-3 tenths and even upwards of 4 tenths if you remove all Torque Management and Torque reduction.

A TCM tune is definitely the way to go, soon as I can find time to rip mine out and send it away to get unlocked.
But in the meantime I was experimenting this week <mostly out of lockdown bordem> with adjusting the Minimum Timing table in the upper load areas and setting it to something much higher (10' as per a HPTuners thread i found) and have noticed a considerable difference in the shifts, especially the 1>2. It used to pull 25 degrees or more on each shift, now it only pulls about 12. With everything going on in the world right now, seat of the pants dyno/track and logs is all i have to go by unfortunately, but the changes are noticeable. Can't confirm unfortunately if it will be a gain in the 1320 at this point.
