Protecting car for 1000 mile roadtrip

Hello everyone I’m in a bit of a pickle. I just found a car I’d like to buy but it’s about 900 miles away from me. Because of this I’d have to fly out there to get the car and then drive it home. I wanted to know how you guys recommend keeping the car safe for that drive home. I’ve heard masking tape on the front end and behind the rear wheels (how long would this take by the way). And some people getting a bra for the front for the roadtrip. I want to ceramic coat the car but I don’t think I’d be able to do that since I’m just buying the car at the dealer and leaving since it takes 24 hours to harden. Any advice?

Ceramic coating isn't going to protect you from rock chips, you'll need PPF (Paint Protection Film) for that...

I just got in and drove mine 1300+ miles when i took delivery. Fortunately I only got one little tiny nick in the nose. I’m going to correct that little spot and get a full PPF done sometime this spring.

I did a 4k mile road trip in mine as is. No problems. I say just get in it and drive and don't tailgate.

Painters tape, road warrior or Xpel track wrap are your temporary solutions. Painters tape held up fine for a 450 mile drive home with some rain. Took about an hour to do before leaving the dealership

Wow, I'm glad my dealer was only 8 miles away... I didn't drive it much until I got the PPF installed, but wow, never saw anything like this! (However, I do understand not wanting any chips!)

OP - Can the dealership put PPF film on and have the car ready to go when you arrive?

Alternatively the blue painters tape looks to be pretty cost effective, just don’t know if it would be worth the install, and removal labour. I think I would just drive her carefully like Og Neon said.

Ask the dealer to have Xpel put on the nose. The bumper part from the hood forward. Thats all you need. Should cost around 500 dollars and is a permanent installation.

I personally wouldnt do all that blue tape etc..Anything more then the front bumper is overkill in my opinion.

Thats all I ever had on mine and I have no issues. Lots of track days and highway miles and no issues at all.
