Also, let's be real, I'm pretty sure you didn't buy a Camaro, and a 2SS at that, to accelerate to 55 mph in 20 seconds and then stay there for the rest of your drive.

Nah just making sure we are clear. Flooring it may not be reckless in itself, but if caught that is what you may be cited for depending on local state laws. The law is still the law despite what traffic conditions are present.

I have floored the car twice in my ownership. I knew when buying the car and from those two experiences that the car's power wasn't meant to be used on the road. But it doesn't mean I don't find ways to still have fun with it. Uphill curvy road, I can downshift into 3rd or 4th gear and go up that twisty road between 2500-3000 RPM, enough to hear the engine make beautiful noises and the pops from the exhaust while remaining only 10 MPH over the limit.

If I wanted to be able to wring it out, I would have gone for the V6.

They seem to want to have a road race.
I basically don't let them get into my head simply because I have no idea what their driving skill is like.
If this was on a track, then of course that's why we're there.
However, on public roads, its a no no.
I think it's probably because these people haven't been on a track and want to test out their car and others...lives!
Public roads are no place to race IMO, there's too much debris on the road, driver skills are at question and then you have other drivers that are not aware of their surroundings and will change a lane without looking.
AND there's Five-O just waiting for ya!

Now with that said, yes I too like to open it up on a CLEAR road with no other cars around...it is thrilling to say the least!

Hope he had triple A or on star lol. What a waste. Why not just leave it down there? I have to give props to the guys that brought it back up. They can keep that job. Now off to the junk yard. Lol.

I thought I was the only one noticing the quick cars all over the place. More than usual Chargers, Challengers(dime a dozen anway) and Mustangs. Some Civic Type Rs and STIs. What has caught my eye a lot is the TRD Camrys. There was one with GoPros In every angle possible revving up a storm around me at a light. I was thinking to myself you better have a 200 shot if you’re trying to hurt some feelings. There are a bunch of fast cars out there. I’m stock, mine isn’t one of them.

That canyon is famous in the car world. There’s remains of cars going back 70 years down there.

Should retitle this to:
World's most expensive tow...

...and there is no way you would have paid me to climb down that hill... especially for a mustang...it would have rotted there.

He wasn’t a firefighter by any chance was he?

Yep, a lot of this going on down here. This town is already famous for bad, reckless drivers. What really cracks me up, and scares me a little, is that the ones doing it are in cars not designed for it. Any car can do 120, but it's when that car has to anything other than go straight that stuff hits the fan.

Of course it's also those idiots that drive down the center lane at 20mph under the limit with their hazards on that also drive me nuts.

have the V6.unless you enjoy paying traffic tickets you cant use all of it either.i enjoy the quiet exhaust,i had a 1966 pontiac tempest hotrod with duals and headers that would attract every cop within 2 miles, and i think it would be a good race as long as there were no corners involved.

Certainly, 335 HP can also get you into trouble easily as well and it is no slouch either. Only difference is the V8 gets me to jail faster than the V6 can. But yeah I respect the fact the street isn't the place for waking up all 455 HP hence why I don't. The SS is definitely way overkill for what I currently use the car for.

I don't know, I used all 455 HP yesterday canyon carving, although in just short spurts getting from one corner to the other. That zippy acceleration feels good. Anymore would be overkill though. I would imagine canyon carving in the ZLE would be a bit much, but 455HP is just about right. I also keep all nannies on and use PTM Dry mode when carving up the corners.

The X factor is always the person behind the wheel though. You have to know your and your car's limits and stay within those parameters. I take the same approach as a do being a general aviation pilot, know your personal minimums and personal limits.

I'm sensing a bit of IRS-snobbishness . . . but the S197 Mustang's rear suspension design was clearly NOT the problem. At best, something broke, but that could happen to an IRS car and produce a similar end result.

If you screw up as badly as that driver did, on a road that's almost dead straight, it's more than likely your own stupid fault.
