Sorry my mistake on that hard to put together when at work. I was just skimming through making sure I had info and took that from this

"The 2012 ZL1 Camaro included a 6.2 L LSA supercharged V8 producing 580 hp (430 kW)."

Should have grabbed this

" the ZL1 model will use a supercharged 650 hp (485 kW; 659 PS)"

Chevy has the 6.2 426/455hp plus 580/650hp there I fixed it

Just pointing out that Dodge has put together an in your face program and have leaned on many ideas that worked for them back in the Muscle Car heyday.

GM could learn from their example.

1968 seen it available in all Chevy vehicles.

Short of that, yes, they've all been slightly detuned 'vette engines.
In 1967 you could get any engine available, you just had to know how. Dealer installs were common. Then there were COPO cars.

So, if we are going to split hairs, the Camaro got the 283 and the 327 from the Corvette too?

On the other side of the coin, why didn't the Camaro get the 396 from the Chevelle or Impala then? Both came with a L78 before the Camaro came along...

But, not one of those cars came had a 350 until 1968.

The Turbo Fire 350 was an exclusive optional factory installed motor only for the 1967 Camaro

The Camaro never had a 283.

Apparently, it did in Switzerland.

Chevrolet Camaro (first generation)
1967
Cars assembled in Switzerland, at GM's local facility in Biel, were all coupes with the 283 cu in (4.6 L) V8 that produced 198 PS (146 kW; 195 hp) at 4800 rpm and 285 lb⋅ft (386 N⋅m) at 2400 rpm[15] - an engine which was not available in contemporary Camaros built in the United States. The Swiss-built Camaros were not available with the three-speed manual and had a differential lock and front disc brakes as standard. Some additional safety equipment was also standard.

Ah yes, the good old days, when you could literally order your car with specifically anything you wanted or didn't want, piece by piece. Central Office Production Order.

Then you got that beautiful Protect-O-Plate stamped with the exact configuration of your order.

Now they're just built and configured for you, and you have a couple ways to configure it but not many.

The 1/4 mile time is not competitive at all. Ford claims 10.7 for mustang and Chevy claims 11.4 heck the mustang is .2 quicker to 60 mph. In the drag world that’s a country mile

Yup, GM lost my ZL1 order right there, at the lack of configurability. The $20k price difference went into aftermarket parts and enhancements for my 2SS (some of which would've been done to a ZL1 as well, tires, CAI, ceramic coating etc.).

The same probably holds true today. Get exactly what you want if you talk to the right person and you have the right money. Money always talks. For the right money they will figure a way to get you a new Corvette engine in your Camaro. But it won't be cheap. They'll make it happen far away from the assembly line.

Anyone come up with a nice houndstooth black and white pattern that would look good on modern Camaros? That was my favorite interior color from the old muscle car era.

Exactly. What happened to the original concept of the ZL1? High horse and no weight....
