BTW I would agree that in that case the LT1 given traction, same transmissions and equal drivers should be slight quicker than the SS cars based on its weight advantage. |

I tried really hard, but I could not get any gear companies to make us some 4.10s. No results unless some did it since early last year. First gear is too tall! But great for a 0-60 number.

I think the fix for me will either be more power to run them out a little quicker or it would have been nice to have had an ever slightly more aggressive rear end. I guess more power is the only option as you already mentioned there are no rear end options

I'd assume a S550 Mustang can use most any popular rear gear as I believe its rear diff is based off the common 8.8" rearend? I'm going to ask some questions to try to get a better understanding of these cars. -Isn't the rearend in the LT1/non-1LE SS different than the eLSD rearend in the SS 1LE/ZL1? I don't mean is the diff different, but I thought the common rearend used like a 8.6" gear set, and the eLSD used like a 9.9" gear set? Again this may be wrong, and is why I'm asking. -If the rearend is a 8.6" is it not based on the old 8.6" 10 bolt that many Fbody owners used to say the Fcars should of gotten instead of the smaller 7.5"/7.625" 10 bolts that they ended up with? -Aren't the rearends in these cars based off the same rearends that the GEN5 cars used? Almost surprised a 4.10 wasn't available for them seeing as they were very popular cars and I believe they came with a 3.42 in the M6 SS cars other than the 1LE? I'm pretty sure the GEN5 SS 1LE came with a 3.90 or 3.91 rear gear? Going from a 3.73 to a 3.90 wouldn't be a huge difference though, so if their gears work in our cars it wouldn't likely be worth the gear change I wouldn't think? |

I wouldn't think the 6th gens are compatible with anything else or the fbody rear ends since it seems noone I swapping rear ends on these cars except from other 6th gens (v6s, auto - m6, ect)

The gen5 1le diff will not live long with more power and a sticky surface. Ask me how I know. :(

Not sure if this is old news, but Ford has a CAI, throttle body and tune kit that gives 479hp and 438tq on the Mustang GT. For $1295 seems like a nice upgrade with factory warranty. Notably +42lb/ft at 2000 rpm. Wish Chevy would offer the same deal for the LT1. A base Mustang GT is around $35k + $1295 for the performance package seems like good bang for the buck with a warranty.
