Here's photo of the Flowmaster Scavenger series and the stock midpipe portion it replaces. Stock looks restrictive specially that flattened section towards the rear. I planned on getting this since I already have the American Thunder axleback.

The Flattened section does not affect power. Tests have proved this. For an OE system the C6 system is actually pretty darn good.

I’m not super Interested in the power gains from an x pipe like this. I’m just itching for more sound from my Flowmaster system without deleting the cats

removing the secondary cats really opened up the sound in my opinion. I will try to get sound clips just been stuck at work and the weather has not been great. |

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to have the links to those tests? Looking at the photo, I just can't see how that flattened section offers same volume of air to pass.

ive spent some time around around a car with kooks long tubes, high flow cats and no secondary cats. it was a touch louder than my car when it was stock and making pulls resulted in a doorhandle race, every time. both cars 1SS 1LE. secondary cat removal not worth the effort imho

Does anyone know what the AFM valves look like on the Flowmaster Scavenger Series X-Pipe for automatics? I'm wondering if they look and perform the same as GM's OEM.

I emailed Holley.com and they said, the following:
They do not use the same size valve as would come factory, but do utilize the same actuator motor and function the same as OE. |

Which would make sense since the Flowmaster is a 3 inch system so the valve will be slighter bigger. |

I just had mine installed a few days ago.
It is definitely louder and deeper when you accelerate. Maybe a little louder at idle. Speed and performance wise: a little faster on low-end. BTW - a tight fit near the AFM valves on the driver's side due to the proximity to the transmission cooler lines. Hope this helps! |
