Soler TB question
Just a quick question for those of you that have one. I purchased the TB last year to help with the annoying off-idle dead spot that makes the car really difficult to drive in stop-start driving situations, because as you know, giving the M6 light throttle to take off results in the RPM's dropping to the point that the car wants to stall. You have to really rev the car to prevent this, and it sucks because the first 15% or so of the throttle does nothing.
Originally, the new TB helped with this, but mostly after the car had warmed up and had been driven several miles. Now, there is no difference between the Soler and the OEM TB in terms of take-off. I'm not sure why it reverted back to its stock behavior considering I've done nothing to the car or battery since doing the initial install and procedures. I'm not dogging the Soler TB at all, but I'm not getting the desired results. The question is, do I throw another $75 at it and buy their pedal controller or do I just cut my losses and keep what I have? I'm curious what others have done and the results they've gotten. Thanks. |

I installed the Soler throttle body last year. The throttle response was definitely improved after the install and still is to this day.
I just installed my pedal controller on my ZL1 1LE but I haven't had a chance to drive the car yet so I can't' tell you yet what the combination of their throttle controller and throttle body is like. I have read a couple of reviews on the throttle controller here that have said the car feels like it weighs 500 pounds less because it has become so much more responsive. we are getting a wintry mix here in NJ today/tomorrow so I won't be able to drive my car till the weekend. Once I drive it, i'll be sure to post my reaction of their throttle body and throttle controller. if you can't wait, call up Soler and see if they'll do a refund or work something out with you. they are well known for their customer satisfaction.

Thanks for the reply, and I look forward to your review. I'm curious as to why the effectiveness of the TB was inconsistent and then eventually non-existent. I'm not sure if the controller will fix the issue, but at the moment, I'm a lot more hesitant to spend $75 than I normally am. |

I've had mine installed now with about 500 kilometres on it now. Still loving it! I also have the TC which was the best $75 I've ever spent. So much fun. I personally would contact Mike at Soler. There customer service is second to none.

The controller makes a huge difference. The throttle body alone is an improvement but combined with the controller the difference is night and day.

I have my TB and TC on the way for my ZLE, what setting are you guys using for an aggressive street use? The Sport 5 or whatever that’s supposed to be Quasi-Linear (whatever that means lol)?

For street stop and go I use 1.2. For highway and country twisties I like 2.3. Just play around with it until you find a setting that works for your style of driving.

It pulls like a freight train in 3rd and 4th gear above 3,000 RPMs !!! I used Sport Level 7 and it was plenty for me. The car is scary to drive and i'll have to learn how to push it with the new found peppiness !! Definitely worth the 75 bucks for the throttle controller.

You guys who are sharing your experiences with the Soler TB and TC, are you using OEM intake?

I have a roto-fab big gulp and the lt5 TB with the TC have not installed it hopefully it will be by the end of this week. Just took the car out of storage yesterday. Oil change today and that is next on the list. I will post up when it is done. I will probably have to tune it as well to make sure it's running perfectly. I have a tune on it from the headers so I might not have to change anything. I think I am a hait rich now so it might just slide. But going to check anyways

I used an LT1 version on an OEM manifold with a Cold Air Inductions CAI, and both the LT1 and LT5 versions on an Atomic AirForce manifold. Either way they work great!
