TSB repairs covered even after 36,000 bumper to bumper?
If you have an issue that has a service TSB is that a fixable thing at no cost regardless of the mileage? I’m still under powertrain but not bumper to bumper. I was under the impression that if it was a TSB repair there would be no cost? Just trying to clarify thanks! This particular TSB would be for the seat pulling away at the recline switch on top of seat back.

I believe that one will be out of your pocket. It isn't a recall or a safety related TSB. Your 36,000 warranty would have covered it. I'd go to your favorite upholstery guy or gal and have them quote you.

Ok thanks much. I was just gonna slap that TSB on them while I was having another fix done next week but I’ll just mess with it myself. Easy location for tinkering lol!

I used to have a 2017 with the same issue. I just used a plastic putty knife to ease it back in without scratching anything.

I actually took my car to the dealership yesterday for that same issue and a couple other minor things before my warranty expires at the end of this month. I'll post what they did when i get the car back.

Awesome sounds good. Yea I carefully tucked it in as well but it still tries to peek back out here and there so I’m gonna see if I can connect it like the bulletin shows. Shouldn’t be to bad. It’s literally the only flaw in the interior. Everything else is perfect. So yea it annoys me haha!!

TSB's are only handled at no charge while you are under the warranty, once you are out of warranty a TSB will cost. All the TSB does it directs the dealership how to figure out if the issue if a customer comes in with a known complaint.

The dealership took the seat to an upholstery company and they stitched it. Looks good for now. Hopefully it stays that way.

Doesn't hurt to ask, still. Depending on the dealer and your relationship with them, they'll sometimes cover it if you're not too far outside of warranty or if it's small or something like that.

My remote receiver which is mounted in the trunk went bad just after my 3 year BtoB warranty on my 2017. There is a TSB on the receiver. I have the GMEPP extended warranty and the warranty did not cover the remotes or the receiver and the dealer said I had to pay the $320. I asked for them to contact GM on my behalf stating the car was just 1 month out of warranty and only had 9,000 miles on it. GM agreed to refund me half or $160. It's been six weeks and I am still waiting for the money. I called the dealership and they are checking into it. Bottom line, no you are not covered if there is a TSB and you are out of warranty but you may ask for GM to help through your dealership.

I don't see why your extended warranty didn't cover that if it's bumper to bumper gmepp.

Aren't most extended "warranties" actually for mechanical break down of components?

I have the Platinum plan which is GMEPP's best with $0 deductible. I even called GMEPP because I could not believe they would not cover it. I said I have a copy of exclusions and it specifically says remotes not the receiver. The GMEPP rep said he had a more specific list of exclusions and emailed them to me while I was on the phone ad it said remotes and receiver. So I said you don't list certain things when you purchase the warranty but disclose them later? He suggested I contact GM and see if they would comp the repair. When I called GM they said I needed to go through my dealer to get GM to help me. I did that and GM agreed to only comp me 50% of the repair even though there is a TSB on the receiver. These extended warranties are a joke. At least I got the warranty at a good price from Ken Fitchner. So Bumper to Bumper is not so much. |

Also a Service Bulletin is only an updated repair procedure. It's not an extension, a recall, or anything special. There are pages and pages of SB's for any given model. It's not always an indication of a problem, it's just a new way of fixing it. It's frustrating to have to pay for repairs, but at some point its up to the consumer to take responsibility for the product they purchase. |
