OP I didn't mean to hijack your thread brotha...
Personally, if I didn't need a back seat, I'd be ALL OVER the Z06 rather than a ZL1. Better looking, faster, w/ the only disadvantage being the A8 instead of the A10. |

I have both. Both with the automatic. The A8 negativity is overplayed by the bench talkers. If we didn't have the A10, the A8 would be just as highly praised. The A10 is superior; yes, it does everything the A8 does marginally better to some degree. However, put your foot to the floor and both snap off shifts like nobody's business and to me that's what counts. The ZL1 is much easier to get into driveways. The Z06 is mildly quicker, faster, more nimble, and a bit less forgiving.
I do miss having a super fast manual in the stable, so I debate about going M7 ZR1 or something in the future. |

In Sport Autos' hands, the Z06 did a 7:13.9, which is very quick, nearly as quick as an AMG GT R that they tested. We'd imagine that if it were equipped with the eight-speed automatic and had GM's 'Ring Wizard (official title) Jim Mero behind the wheel, that the Z06 could be somewhere below a 7:10. |

The Alpha platform can handle 650hp much more confidently than the C7 Corvette platform. That's the major difference.

ZL1: 7:29 ZL1 1LE: 7:16 Z06: 7:13 (By a non-professional, non-GM driver for a magazine. Not even near the pace Bill Wise had on the ZLE lap.) Willow Springs: ZL1: 1:26.2 Z06: 1:25.0 1/4 Mile Records: ZL1: 10.94 @ 128 (Forum member 17CamaroZL1. Only a handful of bone stock ZL1's in the 10s) Z06: 10.42 @ 134 (Numerous passes in the 10.6-10.9 range that are not hero runs) I could find more, but the results are more or less the same. FWIW, I've driven these cars back to back for two seasons and the Z06 is no doubt a faster car. Any video showing the ZL1 beating the Z06 has something wrong with it...either drivers, jumping, or mods etc. |

Either car will be a blast. I could have bought either car. My decision came down to wanting some exclusivity. I see C7 Z06s on the road almost every day where I live and I almost never see a ZL1. It was as simple as that for me.
