Once you start looking at 305 and wider tires and 100 wear compounds 3.5 and 3.6 can be done on street surfaces. My bro had a Charger, I had two Challengers, they are NOT coming close to those times on the street with the rubber listed. We are talking a 4450 lbs car vs a 3650 lbs SS,
You are right everything is relative, and every choice has drawbacks, Camaro has the best platform for the track but for DD not so much, I picked the Challenger because it is the better DD platform.

I'm running a CAI and Upgraded exhaust with the right tires I'm running faster than any Civic R and my RT weights in at 4041lbs

It doesn't. Trust me. Stop talking shit bro. I wouldn't even waste my time racing you in my ZL1. My X5 tho, that's a different story.

The Challenger is a better DD platform ONLY if you had to pick one or the other as a sole vehicle. If you have a secondary vehicle like a sedan or SUV then that point is moot. And even then as a sole vehicle most would probably pick the Charger over the Challenger. Or even the CTS-V sedan over the Challenger.

I know what exactly it takes to DD a car and run low mid 9’s. A lot of damn money cause shit tears up know matter what you upgrade. I had a 02 Z06 vengeance racing built back in the day 382 twin turbo built 4l60. It was fun when it didn’t tear something up.

I was talking about dd a mustang or ss with just a blower on the street. Doesn’t take much. Go to the track and it’s a totally different story.
Nice, I hear you
and / or with a sticky enough tire and / or prep track and / or manual.

I'm kind of dumbfounded with the $4000 GT axle and oil pump upgrade, that puts the 5.0 in the penalty box IMO for supercharger and go, which can happen on the SS, especially the auto.

Cool, never seen an R/T ever tested that light, but will take your word for it. Anybody with an Olds V8 gets street creds IMO.

Oh heck yea, DD especially if you need to put old kids into the back seat, it is Challenger all the way. Looks better than the 5th gen IMO too.

So after all that has been said and done I think we can conclude that the GT500, when compared to the ZL1, has been a flop. GM won this Gen battle in a decisive manner. For each trim Camaro, there needed to be a higher trim Mustang to compete. And it culminated in the CF GT500 vs the ZLE. The GT500 needed to not only win but win convincingly to have been a success. And it couldn't pull it off. GM pulled off quite the feat all them years ago and I don't think anyone can deny that. And it's only gonna get worse as higher trim C8s start showing up. GM is on top and I don't see them losing the crown for a long time!!

I wouldn’t be so sure. The Civic R, as delivered, is starting as a faster car.

Challenger RT
1/4 mile: 13.6 s @ 106.3 mph
Curb weight: 4149 lbs
Braking 70-0 mph: 167 ft

Civic R
1/4 mile: 13.5 s @ 108.0 mph
Curb weight: 3042-3166 lbs
Braking 70-0 mph: 146 ft
A better daily driver, as the only household car, would be the Kia Stinger GT. Better acceleration, braking, fuel economy, road handling and a hatch. Expect more!

Kia Stinger GT
1/4 mile: 12.9 sec @ 111 mph
Curb weight: 4004 lb
Braking 70-0 mph: 156 ft

Haha, or maybe they are just correcting their previous lie about how much power it makes.
