Somone else touching my girl

Just dropped her off to get a paint correction and Gtechniq 9 year coating put on. Does anyone else feel uneasy when they leave their ride with people or is it just me? Also has anyone else had the gtechniq put on if so how is it holding up?

My anxiety levels definitely go up If I have to leave her somewhere for whatever length of time.

I don't like anyone touching, driving, sitting, etc in any of my vehicles. I will NEVER valet a car. I cringe taking it to the dealer and they are actually pretty good about things. I have to take my truck in tomorrow morning to get Fox Coilovers on the front now that they have finally come out with them for the BDS lift I had done.

I always check for a single ding in the entire vehicle ever time I pick it up.

My car never drives right after someone else is in the driver's seat. Every time it gets slower I swear.

My car has not been back to the dealer since one of the locking lugs fell off because they didn't torque them when I bought it and they did the first oil change and the tech put the filter on so loose it was dripping oil and I had to turn it ONE FULL turn (yes, 360 degrees) to get it tight...

Morons...

Probably widely known, but if you can enable recording (with audio) automatically anytime you're in valet mode if you have the PDR option. Access the prompts through the PDR settings, then enable valet mode as needed. You could also enable teen driver mode if your dealer needs access to your radio. Set the speed low enough to discourage hooligans.

I also make a show of taking a photo of my odometer to the service representative. Its less about taking the photo, than it is about him/her seeing me take the photo. I've heard of others taking a walk-around video at time of drop-off. Good idea, but I've never done it.

But in the end, yeah...I do as much maintenance as I can on my own to avoid potential issues.

Last time it was at the dealership for a scheduled oil change and differential service, the fat f**K left his greasy finger prints all over the interior! I ended up making a major to-do about the whole thing and got a new steering wheel and shift knob (alcentara).

Oh, and Iater found out he left the oil cap off the engine, that was never located.

I take pictures of everything with the service manager before releasing the vehicle to them now. They just don't care!Name: Resized_20191107_162801.jpeg

Yep i can see we are all of the same opinion, We don trust anyone to take care of our car the way we do.

Anyone have first hand knowledge of the Gtechniq ceramic coating? Its comes with a 9 year warranty. IMO it is worth the couple of hundred dollars extra to get the 9 year over the next closest one which was a 5 year coating.

I’m also running Gtechniq coatings as well. Crystal Serum base layer and Exo V4 top layer. I’m wondering if maybe the second coat is what provides the longer warranty. Not sure when/where you drive your car, but my SS only sees nice weather (put away for the winter). So my guess is that in cases like mine, I’ll probably trade it in long before the coating ever goes away!

Yea Josh they have the crystal serum light then the ultra. the ultra has the 9yr warranty and has to be professionally installed by a certified Gtechniq installer.
My car is a daily in Ga and no garage so we will see how she holds up. The place putting on the coating does a yearly inspection and reapplication of coating if needed under warranty so im sure i will be happy with it. How easy is washing your car after you put the coating on?

Incredibly easy! Most of the time I’ll just use my Griots Garage foam cannon with their touch less wash soap to minimize touching the paint. If the car got really dirty from going to the track, etc then I use the Gtechniq wash soap with a microfiber mitt. Comes out beautiful and cleans up very easily!
