Don’t invest all that money into upgrades. If you want a V8, nothing is gonna satisfy the itch until you get the V8. Just take what you were gonna do in upgrades and put it down on an LT1.

Keep in mind the only upgrade you’ll really get in the lt1 is the engine, as it looks like a V6 still

If you have $10k to 12k for upgrades to put for your Camaro then by all means take that money and buy an LT-1 Camaro and move on! Are you reading what people are replying here? A supercharger or twin turbo setup for that V6 will cost a lot of money and then the brakes, suspension, exhaust, wheels/tires and etc will all have to be upgraded. You have to do research on all the upgrades that would have to be done to your Camaro and determine what the costs involved would be and in my opinion it won’t be cheap!

You'd need to add at least 100 hp, which will be difficult on a V6 with 335 hp that is very well tuned from the factory, unless you turn to forced induction.

It is a definite possibility, but as others said, makes the car harder to sell down the road, so you need to carefully weigh your options
Those Scat Packs are super fast. A guy at work has one and drives it hard. At a light one time he was probably at 50 before my GTI was at 20 MPH. You need an SS at a minimum if you want to keep up with a Scat Pack. As already stated even supercharging the V6, which costs a huge amount of money may not even get you there. Seeing a Scat pack in action I'd want a ZL1 to play with it.

This is what I was going to say. If you're going to spend $10k to make the V6 as fast as the V8, then you'd be better off spending that money on the V8. It won't break as much and will come with a warranty.

I personally prefer the 4 and 6 cylinder variants, but we have very different goals. The idea of showing up to an autocross and beating up on a field of V8s in my 4 cylinder Camaro is a wonderful proposition.

I can only type the words buddy. I don't have any other way to express how much I wish the cheaper 6 offered a comparable experience to a V8. It's just not there. The gap in torque and displacement is too big for that to happen.

Also that's Chevy's fault for making the LT1 so powerful. Don't blame me lol.

I owned a 2002 V6, and have been down that road wanting to spend money on it to make it faster. It wasn't worth it then, and it's not worth it now, especially since the new V6's have 335 hp...that's great power!! The reliability goes to $hit, and then you have a highly-modified car that you don't want to keep forever, because it's really not what you wanted in the first place.

That said, to OP I can understand why you have some buyer's remorse. Even though the V6 has great power, no V6 can replicate that V8 rumble and feel. Even when I'm not using all 455 hp/tq, I can feel it there, ready if I need it. But look at it this way: you have a great looking car with MORE than enough power for daily driving. The wise thing to do is hold on to it, take good care of it, get it paid down, and DON'T modify the drivetrain. If you want to, fork over some cash for cosmetics (wheels, body kit, maybe some vinyl graphics, etc.) That way you preserve the value as much as you can to trade it in for a V8 someday or maybe (gasp!) an EV Camaro.

I agree with you JT58 about the Scatpacks! They are fast and one would definitely give a ZL1 a good run!

I can wait like 2-3 years. If I got an LT1 trim I wonder if they can take the spoiler and install it for me from my car to the new one; I can install everything else. I just hope the camaro is around by then.

Sounds like a smarter choice in the long run but I'm also hearing rumors that v8s are dying and there will be no more v8s in a few years which also slightly puts me to panic that I may not get a new one (not crazy for used vehicles)

Save your money and drive the Camaro you have now and you can buy a new 2021 or 2022! Pay down your car for 2 years to trade in or sell and buy a new SS and don’t worry about the future of V8s! We will all be in the same boat if V8s are discontinued!

I would save up as much cash as you can before you buy something you clearly cannot afford. And the out the door price is far from the last thing that you'll be paying for on a performance car.

What are v8s like compared to v6s? I heard the v8s are always wanting more. (I know more pricey on gas, insurance, maintenance, etc) anyone by how much and how well are v8s?

Try renting one if asking for a test drive is too awkward for you.

They are roughly 2 more than the V6.

rent one for a day,see how often you can use the extra power, and see if you feel that its worth trading yours in on one.a friend of mine has an SS and the only use he really gets out of it is lifting the hood at car shows.around town and in traffic or driving normally you wont see a huge difference.
