Exotics Racing Las Vegas

Not camaro related but i was in vegas last week and I did a few laps in some cars and had an absolute blast! Decent bang for the buck considering they will be cars ill never own!

Drove the new GT500, NSX and Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

The mustang was the 1st car i drove and felt at home had amazing brutal power. The trans was awesome and handled its weight well. not nearly as precise as the nsx or porsche but very good. Also brakes were amazing!

The nsx was interesting. I wish they would have allowed track mode cause i could feel the front motors hurting my corner entry. Super nimble quick on exit, cornered and broke super flat. odd feeling not having body roll! lol

The GT3 RS... what can i say. They say dont drive your heros and this car did not disappoint. its absolutely still my hero and I want one.. bad. Lacked the brutal bunch in the back im used to with torque but she screams and scrams and then at 9g you shift.

Even though I had a bad experience at that place, it was still fun and worth driving cars that you'll never own (either due to $ or due to not making sense at all).

Nice to hear they got a GT500. I know they were trying to get a Ford GT.

Side note - The reason I had a bad experience was because the instructor I had would FREAK OUT if I didn't do 100% exactly what he said. And I mean ONE.HUNDRED.PERCENT.AS.HE.SAID. The guy would straight yell at me with the slightest of deviation and once even slammed on the brakes and held/locked my steering wheel when there was some very un-skilled person in front of me slamming on their brakes into a corner. This was quite a few years ago, so that person may be gone now. My friends did not have the same experience - they had nothing but positive things to say about their instructor. I understand being conservative and not knowing peoples skill level (I've driver coached new people at autox and track days), but this was a bit mind-boggling.

Yeah I could understand why that would suck. both mine once they saw i had some skill let me take more liberties. they dont shut up bu that said they have to keep people in check so it didnt bother me.

the think i think of is its las vegas. they probably get all these people that think they are senna and need to check their egos.

Yeah, the experience you had was weird to me, I had done it 4 times before 4 different intructors and all were pushing me for more, allowing me to push the limits of the tc and locking the brakes up. Felt like shit when you came back saying you had a bad experience.

Curiosity question: what kind of tires are they running on these? Track tires, or just hi-perf street tires?

Their tire choice should give a pretty good idea what limits they want you to stay under. It looked like they let you run the GT3RS pretty hard.

I've thought about doing this sometime, but as an experienced track driver I'm afraid to end up spending a lot of $$ just to putt around the track in supercar parade.

So they have a contract with michelin!

They all have the same tire and they are pilot super sports on them.

Its a little expensive yes, I enjoyed it though. To the point where i am now trying to find a way to own a GT3 lol

So, PS4S... that's what I would have expected. Great tire, but not quite up to true track speeds.

A friend has a GT3, and has been kind enough to let me drive it... they are very special cars!

Hey Mike,
What events are you looking at for Time Trials? I recently contacted the Milwaukee SCCA about time trials and I was told they do not have any Time Trials on their schedule for this year because participation numbers have struggled with the Time Trials in recent years. So they are moving to only HPDE Track days this coming season. Do you know of other SCCA regions close by that are still having time trials?

Thanks.
