1LE grille may not be required for 1LE splitter?

So after lots of digging and questioning, I think I finally answered my own question. I could be wrong, but check this out.

I think with some small notches cut in between and just below the grille's finished bottom lip, you could insert some, most, or all of the 1LE splitter tabs. If the dremel cut is only as small as absolutely necessary, you should have very little wiggle room.

Then I found these factory trim fasteners could prove useful in helping to secure them better once they are pushed through.

Check out the quick pics I mocked up below, and let me know your thoughts. All the notches for the splitter seem to be easily made between the bumper attachment slots.

I figure if it doesn't work, it doesn't matter because the cuts are below the gloss black finished lip anyway.

Only reason why I'm looking into this so much, is because I've heard you cant paint the 1LE grille due to the textured finish. I would like to keep a common color profile on the car and not have white, satin black, gloss black, and textured black.

I believe with the proper paint adhesion products painting should be doable.....

I replaced top & bottom grilles. I may paint the splitter side winglets as they are the only thing really seen from the side

Not sure about splitter without grilles but, I have the 1LE grilles (upper and lower) in my 2019 ZL1. No other stuff required, plug n play. They were paint matched Mosaic Black Metallic with an adhesion promoter. Came out nicely, just note the 1LE lower grille is dimple textured on the "fangs" so it looks like snake skin when painted. Enjoy.
