Part of me wonders if the thin difference in performance levels between the GT500 and CFTP is the reason why they went with the aforementioned nomenclature vs a GT500 and GT500R?

An update would be nice but as far as the complaints go, they are subjective and waver between mustang and camaro. Some reviewers prefer the mustang some the camaro, both get ragged on for sub par interior materials. The dodge less so.

I don't want BEV or self driving either but its hard not to notice that Tesla is now worth more than GM and Ford combined.

There was an article last year predicting Ford wouldn't survive 10 years. That of the three domestics, GM had the best chance.

I posted this in support of minn19's statement that "every mainstream manufacturer is doing this to save money and they have to to survive". Its a crazy time.

till the feel good Govmunt subsidies run out, has Tesla even made a dime of profit year on year? and that is with HUGE subsidies... right. Miltion Freidman would call that a malinvestment.

A proper "GT500R" (basically with the same stiff suspension and DSSVs as the ZLE) would be as epic as an upgraded ZLE with all the ZR1 bits. Hopefully Ford has it in their plans, but the market for such an extreme car is mighty small and the cost may not be worth it. Still curious to see how the CFTP car sells.

Sure wish Ford would make a true corvette competitor, i.e. a gt that is less than $100K and dodge would bring back the viper...

A proper Vette fighter from Ford would be cool, especially if it was a regular production car and not one rolled out once every ten or 40 years. Viper needs to come back, but hopefully v10 not like the 2023 v8 viper comeback rumours suggest.

I think the R name isn't used due to the historic gt500kr nomenclature. At least I think I heard some Ford insider claim as much. A more track oriented gt500 would be cool, but personally I'd like to see a 2021/22 gt500kr be a manual version of the current car. As far as a gt500 with harsher suspension, I wonder how the cf wheels of a 4000 pound car with stiffer dssv's would react to potholes.

I just saw on the throttle house IG that the zl1 1le next to the gt500 they had Randy Pobst run had on Michelins. Hopefully it's got some ps4's for driving around and they used the oem g3r's for the track test.

Nevermind lol they just told me it was run with the g3r's. Forgot to ask if it was an a10 or m6.

If that's the TH-test I'm thinking about, they were here, asking for A10s, if I recall.

It is. I assume they used an a10, just forgot to ask them if they secured one when we were going back and forth.

Does anyone know the outcome of the GT500 vs the STi?

Ford cannot battle the Vette. The GT500 at $94K can't even beat the C7 Z06 and can barely take on the C8 Z51. The $450K Ford GT is barely a match for the C7 ZR1. And they're having a hard enough time as it is trying to beat the Camaro. If anything they should be steering clear of the Vette.
