I did exactly what you are talking about. I went from a 17M6 to an 18A10.
Love the A10, sucked taking the money hit but I hated the launch of the M6 even more.

The list of manual cars is getting really small. If you have any plans of keeping it long term I would stick with the manual for value reasons alone. Also and this part is very subjective but I went from only manuals to an automatic in a modded 335 because it was faster and hated it. Then I traded it on an m3 with a DCT thinking the torque converter was the problem. The dct was fun for about a month and I always drove in manual mode but then I was right back to wishing I had a real manual and missed having control of the clutch still which is why it got replaced with a zl1 m6. For me interacting with the clutch and gearbox is the majority of what makes driving fun. Since I drive my car not race it I don’t really care if the auto would shave a couple tenths of a second off the 0-60 time or quarter. I’ll take the slightly slower but more engaging and fun manual and actually enjoy driving again. The only reason I didn’t wait a couple months and get a c8 instead is because it’s not available with a manual and getting a manual back was the entire reason for trading cars.

So if this will be your first venture away from a manual make sure you really want to loose that part of driving before you take the hit on the trade.

I have actually went back and forth a few times in just the past 5 years. I Have kept a car on average 9 months for my last about 5 cars, i need to chill and keep one. I actually have had two different Charger Scat packs and loved them just not enough power, loved the 8 speed trans though it was awesome!
Looked into Hellcats but they want too much money for one of those bad boys if you are looking for a 2018 with less than 15k miles they want z06 prices for them.

I do like the ZL1 just miss the quick shifts, ease of use and remote start of the auto. I did not get a chance to drive an A10 until after i purchased my M6. There were no A10's close to me for about 5 months that i could drive. Found the car i currently have and Just felt like 50,500 for a 2017 with 1600 miles on it was a great deal, so i jumped on it.

You're going to take a bath.. but you only live once. I've probably lost 20k trading cars the last couple years.

If you want to mitigate the financial hit a bit, why not go for a '17 A10?

If i were paying cash or had 5 to 10k to put down again i would do that. The issue is i have financed my last 5 cars 84 months. only putting about 2 to 3k down on each to cover tax, tag and title. the banks i use only go 72 months on a 2017 MY car now. That would put me over 700 a month. I can not really go over 670 a month, i pay 648 now. I get the best interest rates so the only deciding factor is price. May have to work some OT and get a few grand extra built up to do it. But i hate working OT, would raher be at home doing anything else. lol

Keep the car and your man card. Too many sissy’s with automatics these days. Take some pride in banging gears until your older and your body wont let you do it regularly anymore.

In 10 years from now you wont be able to get a single car with a manual anymore. In 20 years from now true car guys who were banging gears in amazing 6060 transmissions will be telling their grand kids and any youngster who will listen about their euphoric experience of dumping the clutch and leaving a mustang in a cloud of smoke.

Too many Dinosaurs stuck in the Tar Pits too. Upside is not too many drive a Covered Wagon anymore. Step into the 21st Century, it is smarter and less cumbersome. Some of us grew up with nothing but a clutch thus we grew with the times.

There are no 8 tracks either. The world is a better place because of it.

Dude I’m all abt the “Mexico roll racing scene “ and am a diehard manual guy. Hell my 720 rwhp C7 Z06 is a manual as is my 18 Zl1 but guess what? In roll racing the A10 is superior and destroys the M6’s. I’m as much of a man as you can get lmfao 34 5’9 183 and 10% bf (I compete) so yeah with that bs out the way I don’t consider myself a sissy and will be ditching my Zl1 manual for an A10. Let me swing by and do a 40 roll against your manual with my A10 (when I get one) and let’s see about outcome lol.

I don’t think you realize how good the 4 Channel sound explosion from Zenith Allegro 8 track was in ‘74 lol.

That said, I’ll be a manual guy to the bitter end. For me there’s nothing better than having a hand (literally), in the driving experience. Whether it’s my ZL1 M6, or my 53 Mercury with her 3 on the tree, I get more enjoyment out of driving something that requires driver skill in order to improve speed, be that straight line or track speed.

Like bobb35ny, I traded my 17 M6 for the 2018 A10 back when they were blowing out the 18's early last year. Found my 18 at a dealer who really wanted it gone, they had it on the lot for a solid year. Only cost me like $8k to swap. Of course my 17 only had like 4800 miles on it, when I traded. Love the A10 its a lot snappier than I would have imagined. Totally different car to drive.

I owned 2 ZL1's at once for about 20 minutes!

I say to each his own! At least a manual is offered unlike the 8gen Corvette! People are complaining about that now but oh well, that’s the way it is now! Get which transmission you want and enjoy the car and time we are living in now because in the very near future things are going to be a lot different! I’m a manual guy too but not going to criticize someone that likes automatics!

When manuals are no longer available I’ll be done buying new sports cars. Autos just don’t interest me.
