Change the fluid but eventually the moan will come back.

Don't worry, be happy. The moan is described as a normal condition in the Mustang Owners Manuals. Wish GM would do the same and put these complaints to rest.

I experienced a REAL differential catastrophe in a rental Jeep in Costa Rica. They had apparently put conventional gear oil in a LSD. When backing up, the bind and release sounded like I had just backed into a telephone pole.

If the moan only happens when cold, that means you have good LSD clutch grip when warmed up.

I realize the limited slip fluid you are buying has the friction modifier in it. Buy the small tube of the limited slip friction modifier available at most auto supplies, add it and your groan is gone.

I had to do that very thing on a 2001 Corvette I once owned.
