Header and Tire Questions
So I'm hoping somewhere here has the AWE Track Exhaust connected to after market LTHs. Any recommendations on what should bolt right up to the AWE-CATBACK?
Looking at replacing the factor tires and keeping the stock 20 inch wheels. Can anyone confirm of the Toyo Proxes R888R will fit without rubbing? |

OP we have installed several after market cat-back exhaust systems on 6th gen Camaros with headers and none of them direct fit together with a different brand exhaust. You will have to modify the header's connection pipe or the Cat-Back exhaust pipes in order to make it work. We installed a AWE Cat-back to a 6th Gen ZL1 Camaro with long tube headers and we cut the Cat-Back pipes short so it would bolt onto the header's connection pipe with the provided hardware. If you wanted a true bolt on experience without any modifications I would suggested purchasing a complete Headers/exhaust system like American Racing Headers or Stainless Works. Here is a link to some of their exhaust systems available on our website with 1 7/8 Headers. Keep in mind a tune is required when you install headers so you need to find someone locally to make a custom tune on your ZL1.
Regarding Toyo Proxes we offer the front factory ZL1 tire size of 285/30 R20 so you can have an exact replacement. If you want to install the rear Proxes then we suggest you use a 5mm spacer with a 315/30 R20 and you could lower the car too with some springs and still be fine. -Trae |

315/30/20 R888Rs will fit fine on the 11” wide whee. Like stated before you will need a spacer. I would also move the wire harness in a bit. Super easy to do. Took me 45min and most of that time is removing the wheel from the car.

I thought from everyone else that the 315/30/20 tires fit great on the zl1 with no adjustments needed?

I have the AWE Track Edition with Performance Link Pipes. Unfortunately there is no LTH manufacturer that bolts directly up with the AWE system. There has to be some additional modifications done to marry the two up.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies, any recommendations on Headers? I was told that 2inch is the way to go. Not sure about that as I have read they rub and have fitment issues.

The difference between 1-7/8 and 2" is negligible. I wouldn't even give that a second thought, but either way if you do want perfect fitment go with ARH. The stories you've heard are other brands and ARH is GM certified for our cars.

You can do ARH long system that comes all the way back right before the stock muffler then get an aftermarket axleback. Thats probably the easiest way to make it fit correctly instead of trying to get headers to mate with catback.

Thank you all for the quick reply, I already have replaced the entire system and even the secondary cats are gone, I'd like to salvage that if possible.
I was thinking these -- https://kooksheaders.com/2-headers-conn1317 It looks like their mid-pipe ends where the AWE CAT-BACK would connect i would think it's pretty close. |

Markoz I don't mind the spacer and moving the harness just going off of everyone's expert opinion. Thanks for the reply. Which size spacer? 5mm?

5mm will be plenty. I don’t think you’ll need one but if so I’d go 3mm and that’s just to give a wider stance.

You absolutely do not need spacers. I run the proxes 315 30 20s on the rear with no rubbing issues whatsoever. I did move the cable "just to be sure." You should not use a spacer if you don't need it. My car is a 2019 ZL1 A10. Those that claim you need to use spacers are simply wrong. My comment may or may not apply to a lowered car-I have no idea for a lowered vehicle.
