Not surprised that ZL1 walked away the way it did with those mods

So Blaq, any idea when they are going to build your car? I know production starts in February but any idea how long it will take to get yours?

Yea definitely, I'm sure there's some out there that love them. I like a deep concave wheel, like the z1l/ss 1le's or most vipers and c6 grandsport, the c8s are too flat for my taste especially the rears.

To those that like intricate more complex designs, they're probably a hit.

Does not look like this has been posted yet, and sorry if it has. Here is the link to MotorTrend's first test, article published yesterday...

Here is the link to their test of the M6ZLE From June, 2017

Here is the link to their test of the base A10 ZL1 from December, 2016...

I could not find an auto ZLE, or M6 ZL1, but I did not look that hard. Maybe someone else can find and post those.

Overall the ZL1 hangs with both trims of the GT500 really well. Unless you're a die-hard Ford/Shelby fanboy, or someone who needs to have the "latest and greatest" I think after reviewing all of these tests it would be hard to justify the GT500 over the ZL1.

So the base ZL1 had better lateral acceleration and figure 8 numbers than the CFTP GT500... and better braking than the base GT500. ZLE had better braking than CFTP.

That doesn't bode well for the track performance of the GT500... except at tracks with long straights where it's HP can come into play.

Can't wait to see a H2H, same track, same driver, same day....

Yea I was thinking the same thing. It looks like the ZL1 matched, or beat the GT500 on almost all the performance metrics. Very nice.

I'm looking at sometime in the July/August/September timeframe. If I get it before the August cutoff then it will be a 2020. If I get it afterwards then it will be a 2021. Either way I am paying the 2020 price. But the thing is that I want it to be a "2020" on paper. This is my first Corvette and I want it to be the first MY of the ME layout. So that is what I am hoping for. But shit happens.

I told my buddies that I am taking it to the track to run 10s when I get it and after the break-in period. I wanted it early so I could try to be one of the first to hit 10s. But someone will probably beat me to it by the time I get mine.

Good find, though most of this is info we already had from the gt500 vs c8 article, it does shed light and more detail on everything gt500 related.

I find the mph on the VIR straightaways particularly interesting since we discussed it to death and compared it to all other cars we had as reference. Turns the speeds of around 170 mph on the straight were 166mph, still very impressive but not quite the 170mph that would have put it in the very top of the elite.

I am surprised to hear their gripes with the launch control and the programming of the clutches. Perhaps that clutch dump style doesn't translate well on the streets but is probably optimal on a sticky prepped surface.

Better yet would be to get a C8 Z51 and a ZL1 1LE.
