I believe you'd need at least PP1 on a GT to handle as well as the HPP.

They resized the turbo so the car pulls hard to it's 6500 RPM redline. The regular 2.3T falls on it's face around 5k RPM. I think they said it's making 90% of it's torque at 6k RPM as well.

On 6/22/17,I bought the EcoBoost Mustang w/6sp. It was OK but had issues with A/C. I might have kept it had the A/C was repaired or functioned properly. Fast forward 3 1/2 months and I traded it back for a 2017 GT w/Performance Package. 6 sp again but with short gears and I got tired of rowing them and different A/C issue. Really fast forward to 11/25/17 and I traded it for a 7sp C7.
Only issue with my Camaro was gearshift rattle, which was addressed during 1st oil change/service a few weeks ago.

Coming from the EcoBoost world, I cannot even start describing the amount of money spent on mods to make it sound (loool!) and be as fast as a V8. I prefer a V8, I love my 2018 2SS.

I had 2 Cyclone ponies & they were modded for road warrior service but my 16 GT is superior mainly due to the IRS w/BMR lock-outs. Hp does help too. Also the 3.55:1 gearing. Happy Holiday's to all you guys.

This.

I think some people want to think of the 2.3L Ecoboost as some kind of modern 4G63T. It not though. That motor was the overbuilt 2JZ GTE, 03/04 Cobra, Dodge Viper, GN motor of the I4 world. Especially with an aluminum block I just don't see it handling the same amounts of boost/abuse as one of the older, and heavier Japanese TT, iron block 4 cylinders.

Also a Mustang isn't an EVO. A Mustang's a larger RWD car made to house a V8. The S550 is much bigger than an old Foxbody, and the weak V8's from the 80's let the SVO shine and become popular. The Coyote is too good to let that happen between it and the Ecoboost. I'm going to guess that a large amount of the weigh savings between an I4 and V8 Mustang is not just that the motor weighs less, but also the wheels/tires, brakes, maybe the rearend, etc in the Ecoboost cars weigh less. Just like with the Camaro. A base I4 ATS sedan build on the Alpha for example is around a 3200-3300 lb car. I'd be willing to bet a dressed I4 in the ATS and a dressed LT1 is within 150 lbs of one another.

I say all this to say that while I'm sure the Ecoboost Mustang is a peppy, and fairly entertaining car, if you're really serious about going fast with a Mustang then the V8 cars are where it's at. By the time you hit say 10's in a I4 Mustang you'd pobably be running well into the 9's with a Coyote car.

The turbo 4's will never have the nice sound of a V8, or even the V6 Camaro. My V6 Camaro sounds so good with he MBRP axle back and I would only trade it for a V8 Camaro, never a 4.

My buddy has a turbo F150. He gets less than 10 mpg towing a two axle trailer with a side by side on it.
I'll bet your WRX was a pre 2015. The 2.5 engine in those and the STI's (even current ones) are very thirsty. I got 16 on the highway in my 2011 WRX, driving 65 MPH. It plummeted even more driving 70 or 80. I could not stand how thirsty that car was. The turbo 4 bangers in most other modern cars are way better on gas. My 2016 WRX with the 2.0 engine averaged 34 MPG- light years ahead of the old 2.5. My 2017 Fiesta ST averaged 38 and my current 2018 GTI about 34-35.

Yeh then you add a passenger or 2 and you can feel the power go down.

I've had a few Subaru WRX and STi.

Cost of ownership is as low as I've ever seen, the resale value on Subaru is ridiculous. When my 2014 WRX Hatch was totaled I got back what I paid for it after 3 years and 40,000 miles just because the new WRX wasn't available in hatch. My 2010 was amazingly cheap to own as well.

I also don't know how people get under 20 mpg in a WRX, my '10 and '14 WRX got mid 20s around town and high 20s on the highway.

My '16 STi was bad with gas, the low gearing and inefficient AWD system makes it a purpose built rally car that sucks doing anything else but driving on low traction surfaces. But for that, it is magic.

Thst 4.5 0-60 figure on the i4 high output is with the a10, fast for sure, but the m6 is considerably slower around 5 seconds and more comparable with the 1le. If you're thinking 1le I'm assuming you're wanting a manual, if so the ecoboost high output with an m6 won't be much faster if at all than the i4 1le.

Those wrx's are magic on low traction surfaces. Raced my buddy's tuned '17 while the road was wet from the rain the other day, stupid I know but it was the only chance we got, and from 30mph all I did was spin and he dead hooked. I had to do a 50 roll with me stating in 3rd gear slowly rolling on the throttle with TC on for me to have any traction, he could hook under any condition.

It sounds great with the NPP exhaust from the factory. And no drone on the highway.
