I think the weather has a lot to do with how the ZL1 runs because mine ran different in cooler months, have had it since early March, than now in June!
I also had a 2016 M6 SS and now have an A10 ZL1. My SS was up around 490-500 bolton rwhp. My ZL1 in any weather would blow away my SS. But not my twin turbo 5th gen 1LE.

On the drag strip a stock auto ZL1 can hang right there with a stock Hellcat auto both on stock tires.

But with an equal driver and DRs on both the Hellcat will walk the ZL1 A10 if the dodge diff and axles hold together. The built in ZL1 bog ensures that result. On a roll stock to stock the ZL1 has an advantage. Not that I would ever roll race.

There used to be some acceleration and quarter mile apps that were available on the IPhone and maybe Android. I'd try downloading one and see what it says the performance is while running your car in a simulated quarter mile run in "Mexico". If you still have the Hellcat, I'd do a comparison between the cars.

In my personal experience it depends on a few things. My auto VS an Auto Challenger Hellcat they can usually get my by a half a car up to 120 mph. I can bean the 6 speed cars all day long. Being beat by a half a car isn't a big difference when comparing the acceleration feeling. The A8 Hellcat I drove felt like it wanted to go sideways all the way up to 80 mph and I felt like I was having to really pay attention to keep it from getting away from me at WOT.

The A10 ZL1 does not feel that way at all, especially during the shifts at WOT. The ZL1 shifts so smoothly, yet still shifts fast. When I do a track day I'm always impressed how well the car works on corner exit at putting the power down. I can go WOT so quickly and the car just works, very confident inspiring on the road course. I assumed being the ZL1 was designed more of a track car than a drag car that this smoothness was intentional in design. If it shifted like the Hellcat on track I would spin out dozens of times during a track day for sure. Don't get me wrong, I do like the violent feel of the Hellcat, but nothing beats a track day so I will take the smoothness.

I guess I’m the only one of us ZL1 owners on this thread that doesn’t drive it like I stole it! I do romp on it on occasion but I tend to drive it normal because I don’t want any problems/issues to show up due to hard driving/racing. I had a 1987 IROC that I drove the piss out of that had 3 engines put in over the 11 years I owned it(bought new) and in my older age tend to take care of cars better now! IMO just because the ZL1 is like a race car doesn’t mean you have to drive it like it was one but if someone wants to drive theirs like that then I understand!

To an extent I feel the same way, my wife says that I'm just used to the power (I own several high hp/weight ratio machines), but the ZL1 hasn't exactly rocked my world when it comes to acceleration. I realize that the car is a better track car than straight line but with a claimed 650hp on tap I would like to think that the feeling of acceleration would be stronger than it is.

Passenger reactions are lively though and everyone that rides in the ZL1 says its a monster, but I just don't get the same feeling of brutal acceleration from it.

Either way, its a great car and I do enjoy driving it! I guess I can always make it have more power if it really bothers me that much!

TVM, we do get used to the power and yes you can up the hp rating with mods but why bother to spend a lot more money on the car. The way I see it is that I will never be able to utilize the full power of my Z because I don’t have the driving skills to drive it like that but I do agree that us owners get used to the extra 200 hp after driving around for a few days

That logic doesn't make sense ...

My Hellcat feels WAY more powerful (sotp) now that's it's putting the power down with 315 nitto drag radials vs spinning tires all the way down the road 1st-3rd gear (sometimes 4th when colder) on the factory all-seasons....

Because max torque is up high.

600tq with a BMW turbo V8 at 1700rpm is going to be brutal by comparison, as far as acceleration. If you can keep in high RPM all the time, you can match it, trouble is you have to get there first and any way you get up to redline is going to mean illegal speeds, so your acceleration at lower speeds and RPM is probably not going to be quite as good.

Go put it on a chassis dyno and see what it tell's you.

I felt the same after a few thousand miles.....BUT....for kicks, google "hellcat" or "gt500 feels slow". I did that after reading some of this thread......responses on those forums look pretty similar.......if you want to be scared longer...get a sportbike

One thing I have experienced, is with the nannies on, the computer will really work to maximize traction. If tires are cool or road surface isn't tacky it will not accelerate to it's full potential, because it is trying so hard to stop wheel spin and get bite. Do some pulls with T/C off and see if you notice difference. Be careful, sometimes mine hits so hard it's like a powerband on a two stroke MX bike kicking in when the A10 gears down and the supercharger hits! I am hoping to find the "perfect" tire, because I know tire spin is a problem with these cars at speeds up to 90-100 mph. Spinning will definitely soften the power rush!
