Alright folks more on the issue i am having with the AUTO button on climate control. I tried it this morning and well nothing happened no hot air blowing through the vents. Here are the details written below.

I had to cover a shift at work today being Saturday. This morning temp was 28! Yes cold, but perfect for testing the AUTO climate control to see if hot air will shoot through the vents. I started the car pulled out of the garage. I turned the climate control knob up to 76 degrees. Yes the car is cold and the engine will still need to warm and heat up to proper temp. I expected that same as with any other. I hit the AUTO button and began driving to work.

As i got on to the way heading west bound I40. Once the car got to its proper temp engine wise i heard the vent on top of the dash closet to the windshield going. I placed my hand over the vent and it was shooting luke warm air. After a few miles miles my feet started to feel like they are burning..LMAO!! I placed my hand below the dash and sure enough i felt hot air coming from that vent. Be advised at no time was there any hot air coming in from the vents that are located right in front of the shifter.

I did check on and off during my 45 minute drive to work. NO air was coming from the vents in front of the shifter weird right. I did the cold air testing by turning the climate control knob to LO and sure enough the vents in front of the shifter came to life and were blowing cold air strong. So after i disconnected and then reconnect the batter it worked, but after today testing something else might going on. Dealership time they can try and see what might be causing it. Take care just sharing my findings.

I don’t normally drive at night in the F1FTY. But needed some seat time after today and will test Auto function.

I don't drive at night normally either, but it looks soooo sinister at night!

Nice cover!!!

I know I"m spoiled living in SoCal as I do not have to put my F1FTY away for the winter.

Happy Holidays to all!!!

I went on the local interstate loop so I could test and cruise without worrying about stop and go traffic or dumb drivers.

After about an hour, here are my findings.

With Auto on and set to 65 degrees it turned on the AC and blew out the dash vents at medium speed I would say. By dash vents I mean...driver side, passenger side, center console. Didn’t feel like floor vents at all. I let the cabin reach temp and it backed off, almost off for the fan speed.

Then I turned to 75 degrees. The heat came on right away and it kicked the fans to high. They were floor vents and windshield vent with recir and AC on. No upper/dash vents. Once the cabin reached temp it shifted to bi-level (floor and upper vents) at low speed. With the windshield off. Didn’t pay attention on AC control. I know it will cycle/keep AC on for condensation and a few other things. Even in heat mode.

I even tested in both my truck and my dad’s truck (went over to have dinner with them). Both trucks are a 2014 GMC Sierra. And same results occurred in both trucks as in my Camaro.

I believe it’s functioning as intended and heat just doesn’t pump out the upper vents at first like in cool/AC mode.

Obviously not enough seat time with that amount of miles. At this rate, you should get at least 30 years out of it.

Not as much as I want/like. Work kicks my butt a lot Richard. And despite the mileage I plan on having the car a long time.

When the AUTO function HVAC is working properly, (and mine does), it works just like Kaiser says. It does all the functions I used to have to do manually. I’m spoiled now, because I have it in our Yukon also.
But it drives me crazy that after Man-Splaining how it works to my wife like 25 times, she refuses to just let it do it’s job. In the summer she starts the Yukon and immediately the fan starts out on high. She reacts by turning the fan down, which takes it out of auto mode. She says the fan is too loud..... I tell her that it will slow after two minutes, but never fails, she still does it.
In the winter, the fan doesn’t start immediately, and she is cold, soooo she turns the fan on higher.... lol... she can’t seem to grasp that the heater core needs to get warm first...

It is strange though that in auto mode, the AC light is on all the time....even in winter. Likely confuses some folks.

I have tucked my FIFTY away for the winter, within weeks of my factory warranty expiration. I look back at my early impressions, which was to keep the car with stock performance. I was impressed with it out of the factory box....
Today, I spy the cherished toy under the fleece, and dream of some springtime tinkering with performance and sound.
All my mods so far have been limited to exterior lighting, black bow ties and an AFM disabler.

I read a lot of threads on camaro6, but I think there are some knuckleheads on some threads. I always feel like the core group on this thread gives good advice, and I seek that now. For instance I took James advice and saved my money by not getting a catch can...

I don’t see headers, cam or SC in my future, but I am considering the following:
Roto-Fab dry filter with sound tube delete.
Solar Engineering throttle body.
Borla S type axle back with NPP.

These three light mods just made Heath roll his eyes....lol...hahaha

I think maybe those three will likely give about 50 more lbs of torque and 10% more HP, and will give the beast a growl that I seek, which is not obnoxious increases of either....
I do wish I could figure out how to get the crackle and pop I used to get in my 69 SS as I coasted downhills or decelerated back in the day....
any thoughts?
Not looking to derail your mod plans, but you do realize that the powertrain warranty is longer than the bumper-to-bumper, right? 5 years / 60,000 for powertrain.

With the mods you mentioned you will not gain significant power or torque increase.
For more performance you have to change the header and cam. Additionally the CAI and then a good tune.

But, but, but...all mods add power!!!... lol
Like Heath said, the seat Dino is the perception.
But from what I read, the Soler throttle body will eliminate the lag in acceleration.
Plus my wrench time will be good for my youthful memories of working on the first gen back in the day.
As for the power train..... you Might be right about waiting.....

For the pops do a secondary cats delete. Two buddies of mine wanted the same thing after they put on an aftermarket axleback on their SS and once the cats were removed I took one of the cars for a spin and what a huuge difference!
