Looks like I missed out on some great nostalgia 90's-2000's racing talk!!

My 99 SS was a lot of fun back then. So many foxbodies, SN95s and Cobras were ran. The poor H/C and nitrous Fox's were not impressed by a stock 4th gen pulling on them hard in 3rd gear.

Triggered...too bad you weren't around in 2000 near me.

What will really blow your mind is the 98 Cobra that was Procharged that I walked.

I make ZERO excuses for poor drivers or poorly setup cars. They all thought an LS1 was a waste of their time, turns out they were a waste of mine.

I guess we'll have to be a little more meticulous when we do it on the GT.

You said only drivers side is functional, on the camaro there is only a drivers side piece. Is the mustang BM a two piece unit, both sides?

https://www.americanmuscle.com/searc...leType=Mustang these are made by Velossa Tech but rebranded to AM's SR lineup.

With options and the expected ADMs (based on what they were asking for the GT350s) we won't see a GT500 leave the dealer for under $100,000. I won't be paying that let alone for a pony car.

However, in a few years, when the ADMs drop off, I may consider a low optioned one.

As I recall, Camaros have been beating Mustangs up for the last 30 years (40 ? Mustangs were a joke in the late 70s). Truth be told Chevy has simply provided a better performance car than Ford all a long. Yet Mustangs always seem to beat Camaro in sales.

Mustang seems to have the upper hand in the realm of American Automotive pop culture. It's because of the Mustang we have the term Pony Car. The Body style of classic Mustang is iconic, and Steve McQueen wasn't driving a Camaro. People buy a Camaro ZL1 because its a World class performance car. While more will buy the Mustang because there's a GT500.

Ultimately I would go with the ZL1, its simply a better car for an affordable price.

It shocks me how little people are talking about the GT500. I struggle to even get my Mustang friends to care about it enough to hold a conversation about it, they all just shrug and don't really care much. I am not sure what it is, but I think it's the C8 and the price. It also weighs as much as a new M5, so there is that too.

I don't know, I guess it could also be timing. Dodge has been in the 700+ horsepower game for years now, and the ZL1 has been a world class track car for just as many years. The GT500 wont be doing anything new to warrant its price, so there are a lot of uninterested Ford guys around me anyway.

My local dealer same one I bought my GT350 from sold a Base GT500 with electronics and handling packages for $2,500.00 over MSRP. Others are reporting sale at MSRP, not even close to 100k. While I am sure some dealers will try to markup the base don't get confused between the crazy markups for the very limited CF Package to the pricing on the base model. MSRP for a base with handling and electronics package is 78k. Besides the base is the model you want unless your main goal is to track the car.

Speaking of tracking a Mustang, are you going to track your GT350? VIR is not far from NC.

All this speculation and magazine racing has my right foot feeling itchy. Gotta scratch that itch!!

Do you think that is in relation to ST1LE's observation? below

I doubt we will see ADMs drop even in a few years. Maybe a Base and maybe if you're lucky enough to find one but otherwise no. Even if they do drop ADMs I bet you the price will increase by a few thousand to make up for it.

The problem is that the ones who actually do give a damn about it are willing to overpay for one.

I think it's a little of column A and little of column B. I have seen a few people post that they have been able to get deals for the "base car" for MSRP or maybe a few K over. It's the CFTP cars that I have already heard of insane ADM.

I think the ADM will come down on the regular GT500 fairly quickly(at least compared to the GT350). As much as the GT350 gets ragged on here, it had the uniqueness of the VooDoo and the fact there was nothing else really like it once the Z/28 went away and the fact their hadn't been a GT350 since what 1966? The GT500 on the other hand while MIA for 6 years, has the ZL1, Hellcat, Redeye, all supercharged V8 cars that have been around for a while, oh yeah and the C8.

I think this is pretty much spot on.
