This is true.

Eventually any V8 manual cars will be niche offerings from manufacturers that are very expensive and limited.

The only constant in life is change, and making progress is human nature. The world isn't going to stop moving forward because a relatively tiny group of people refuse to move on.

Buy something you love, and hold on to it. I doubt we will see any V8's passed the 8th Generation of the 'Vette and 7th Generation of the Camaro(if there will be one).

That's what i think too. My hope is Camaro sales will reflect this going forward as the C8 becomes more available.

I honestly think that moving to electric is a lateral move, not forward progress in terms of environmental impact. Obviously a step up in performance, but batteries create their own negative global impact, just in a different way.

What gets me excited, but I think we are at least 50-100 years away from it, is magnetic propulsion. If we could start over and create our infrastructure with a magnetic system, that is where it is at.

No ST1LE, I’m not a doomsday prepper dude! She said that GM’s goal to be all electric by either 2023 or 2025! I read it in the news and if you don’t believe it then do a google search and I’m sure you will find references to what she said. Her words not mine!!

all electric means right to repair laws wont be BS'd with arguments like "we need to ensure that no non-emissions compliant changes are made " on top of their BS fraud arguments. So we may finally get some traction with getting those laws passed and enforced so we can take back control over the expensive property we've bought and paid for. Plus we wont have state regulations keeping us from (or making it extremely difficult to) changing anything involved around power.

Then we may see a new golden age of diy modding like we haven't seen since the 70's. Car modding without concern for emissions control systems ...without the negative context of not giving a crap about the environment. All without needing a garage full of specialized tools to work on things and without. It has the potential to be fun ....something that will never happen with ICE engines as their future is _only_ going to be ever more locked down down to comply with pollution controls that will always get stricter.

No, you didn't read it. You think you did, but you are mistaken.

Many thought that the reason the gen6 Camaro made such a big leap forward in performance (and cost) was to move it upscale to fill the void created by the Corvette going mid-engine.

At a $60k base price, the C8 hasn't really left its buyer demographic behind based on cost. Will the C8 create demand for a front engine, manual transmission Camaro that exceeds what we've seen in the gen6?

I'm beginning to think that Chevy would do better with a CT5/LT2 type car that offers something that doesn't overlap with the C8 sports car appeal. A M4 ownership/driving experience at a Chevy price ...with a back seat and room for two set of clubs (#3). Reflecting on my GTO ownership experience

GM plans to introduce about 20 EV vehicles by 2023 just to clarify. Just did a search and that’s their plan but whether it makes it or not then that’s another story! So was I mistaken about reading something? Maybe not total electric vehicles but I would say 20 across the GM lines is not just 1 or 2 vehicles!

EV is the future.... eventually preformance will be turbos with EV assist....all main transportation will go to EV assist at the very least..... manuals will go the way of the dinos... its not a demand item and cost more to produce than the capital gains.

Maybe heresy to say here but I think this segment is and has been overpriced for awhile. Cell phones and social media have taken over the role cruisers and street racing used to occupy. Now that trucks and suvs are so mich more in demand, these cars are even more overpriced. If it's not profitable you can't expect them to stay in production.

I'm including Mustangs and Challengers in this just in case any chucklehead trolls here think their brand is exempt.

No worries, just a slight mix up in what the article said is all.

Electric cars are not going to be for gear heads. If electrics take over kiss ANY performance car goodbye. Why? Because there will be no reason to buy a $100,000 Corvette when you can get a $30,000 Accord that can do 0-60 in the same time. Think about it! Electric motors are all the same. It’s just a magnet with copper wire wrapped around it. You made one in high school physics class. Once they get costs down there won’t be a differentiation in motors because they’re all exactly the same.

The Tesla Model S in Ludacris mode at 2.9 sec 0-60 sounds amazing until you think about how the electric motor works. Then you realize the same motor can be used in any car. Make enough of them and they become dirt cheap to build. All of a sudden your Model S is a run of the mill $35,000 family sedan.

Sports cars are going to have to continue to be gasoline or some form of it. Otherwise, what’s the point? Who cares about exotics if a run of the mill cheap family sedan is just as fast?
