I’m also in the Griots camp, I’m on my second one after 10 years, and only reason I gave up the old one was to give it to a friend… And I like to buy new stuff… LOL
Since we’re talking tens of dollars here, don’t skimp on a DA. The griots and the upper end polishers like a rupes or flex are lighter ,have less vibration and your back and body will so much appreciate that versus the weight you carry in a harbor freight unit or the like. It’s worth getting a good one. You also find other things to do with it, I routinely polish the quartz counters, shower doors and stainless fridge with it and it Makes them look brand new. Speaking of not using it very often, I bought the Griots cordless, and it works great for cleaning up a new car just using a finishing polish. One battery does the whole car, and without a cord it’s so much easier to use especially when you’re on your back and doing things with an outstretched hand…Going on almost 3 years of use with no problems.

McKees37 is selling a Porter Cable 7424Xp for $95 free shipping right now. Griots are great and available at Autozone. This is the Griots Boss 21mm, Griot's just relabels it. I have it and a friend who polishes every day all day uses one and it is a workhorse: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=556626

Yes and I like it a lot. See post #14 in this thread. I'm looking forward to using it on the Camaro but I can't stop driving it long enough (it's new after all).

I just pre-ordered the new G8! I need a mini polisher and the price they offered me wholesale is unbeatable. Wont be shipped until 12/18.

I haven't used it, but it looks like an amazing facelift compared to the older models. At first glance, it made me think that they are finally joining the "Rupes-inspired" DA design like the flood of others on the market lol.

I got the G9 when it first came out and did a two week long paint correction on my Dad’s Lexus. It’s a much better machine than the older Griots but not quite the smoothness of Rupes. It’s in my opinion the best bang for the buck DA available today. Love the detachable cord also.

I've used the PC7424 XP, HF D/A, Griots, Flex 3401, Rupes 21, and Rupes Mini.
I currently now have the Flex, and both of the Rupes. The PC and HF vibrate like crazy and cut very slow. The Griots cuts a little better and vibrates a little less. The Flex cuts the fastest, but will fight you if you don't keep the pad perfectly flat. The Rupes cut almost as fast as the Flex, and have almost no vibration, but you must do a "washer mod" to get the most out of the 21. With what's on the market right now, if I was doing only my own car, and if I was going to get only one machine, I would get the Adams SK 15mm pro....it already has a 25 foot cord so no extensions needed....5" backing plate so need to buy a smaller one... it has a 120 lumen light to check your work as you polish, perfect amount of light to see your results....with the longer throw, it will also have little to no vibration....with the 20% off sale they are running now....it's $240......Adams has the best customer service you can find.....if you have any issues....they will make it right asap.

I have the harbor freight DA polisher and I used their branded pads in combination with M205 and #26 wax. It was a long process to complete the entire car and the polisher vibrated a lot. Do not use too much product on the pads or else they become saturated and less effective.
