Changing your oil after the first 500 miles is a old hotrodders wise tail. The reason for this is to remove all assembly lube and break-in particles from the motor. Now is the necessary for modern high performance engines?Who know's....But i would not hurt to change it after the first 500 miles.
Now i just changed my new 2020 last week after a 1000 miles. With 75% still left on the oil minder meter. My oil was already pretty black and looked like it was ready for the change.I would have done it at 500 but did not get around to it.
One thing i would recommend for these car.Is a filter Magnet that can be bought of Ebay.Just a little extra piece of mind for the High performance motors. All they do i lock around the filter and it traps any metal that passes through the filter.

Did you buy the car new in march? If you did and the dealer didn't change the oil before you bought it, then the oil has been in there for over a year. They stopped production of the 2018's somewhere around july or august 2018. They may have just reset the monitor.

Yes I bought the car new in March. I figured the oil in the car is the original oil from the factory and should probably be changed for some fresh stuff. My car has a build date of June, 2018.

Synthetic oil lasts longer than conventional or synthetic blend and doesn’t need frequent changes like the other 2! Your oil is good to go with only 900 miles on the engine!

The Oil Life Monitor algorithm uses time as one of the elements. Even if you didn't drive the car at all your Oil Life would show a decrease over time. It's rumored that it will reach zero at 1 year regardless of how few miles are driven (if not reset).

As for if it should be changed? I would just to keep from having any possible warranty issues. OCM say's change the oil while I'm in warranty, I change the oil. But that's just who I am.

I did an oil analysis at Blackstone Labs when my RS was at 1500 miles. There was definitely metal in the oil sample, enough for me to warrant changing the oil. It doesn't cost that much to change it.

Heres the thread with the oil analysis:

Why not go by what the Oil Minder says? At 34%, you still have a third of its life left, so no need to do anything now. OTOH, the Minder works by mileage and time, so even it's sitting there stored for the winter, the Oil Minder keeps ticking down. By the time spring rolls around, it will likely be time to change it. Since that's the case, there's an argument to be made to change it now prior to storing it, so it's sitting with clean oil.

I believe the max life is 1 year between changes. And that's actually what manufacturers have been recommending for years. My 2011 Kawasaki is 7500 miles or 1 year between changes. In 8 years I only have 6500 miles, but the oil is still changed every year, prior to storing it for the winter. Lately I've been putting 500 miles or less on it per year, so when I change the oil it looks new. Seems a waste but the yearly change recommendation must be for a reason.
