Over in the Smokey mountains this weekend with the lady for our anniversary. I ended up beating the previous owners 25 mile EPA by 2 miles (he had it at 32.8 when I bought the car). Kind of a boring economy drive, but nice to know I can get decent highway MPG if I’m nice to her.

I’m about an hour away from the tail so I’m considering getting up early tomorrow and doing a couple of runs before she wakes up. We head back to Charlotte on Monday so it’s my only chance unless I feel like driving almost 4 hours each way on a different day.

Yeah in 6th gear (manuals) this thing will get some decent hwy mpg. It’s impressive.

And I say go run the tail. It’s on my bucket list. And every time my club or the Nashville club go I can’t go.

I’m going to try and get up early enough tomorrow to go. Today was our actual anniversary so I wanted to be there when she woke up. And I’ve run the tail before, but only in a GTI - which did surprising well thrashing through the turns though.

I didn’t try to break any speed records other than trying to maintain speed thru the corners. I was impressed with how “flat” the car was thru the corners. “On rails” gets thrown around a lot, but that’s how it felt. Course I was on the OEM Goodyears at the time.



Made 3 runs, each in a different mode; Touring, Sport and Track.

Never ended up making it to the tail, but I did drive some nice mountain roads into Gatlinburg, TN for the moonshine tasting. These all seasons actually did really well for what they are. The only issue is if I goose it they chirp all the way into third almost, fighting with the traction control.

I also installed my Fifty console cover this evening. I would love to get a tail run together in the spring. Any interest here?
