What I see in the picture above might be normal for Chevy. Look, they only get $60K for a 3.5 second car with 650hp. There isn't a lot of money leftover to perfect the other aspects of the car.

Mine looks like that also. I am not bothered with it at all. Too many other things about the car I enjoy to worry about that. I understand you asking though. You hoped it wasn't indicative of further damage.

Pat, you are worrying too much but I do understand your concerns! USAA will get it fixed right for you! Just make sure after the repairs are done to check everything and if something doesn’t look right then tell the body shop and the USAA claims adjuster before you take your car!

Damn that sucks but it doesn't look that bad. Easy for me to say here I guess. Ill bet you will not be able to tell a repair was done with the proper shop doing the repairs.

Hard to tell if it’s easy to fix or not until the panels get taken off the car. It could just be as easy as straightening some mounting tabs or as hard as the frame got tweaked from being hit in the rear corner.

FYI my car has been at the dealership since the strike. Literally the day insurance approved the repair is the day the strike started lol.
They managed to get all but the stripes done and am going to put an after market set on the roof trunk and spoiler as not to have to wait for GM ones. The dealer is doing this for me so hopefully it wont be too long now. I haven't seen it yet but they did fix the gaps etc is what the service writer told me... Ive got a good attitude about it but man its been awhile. Ill post some pics after I pick it up. |

Picked the car up yesterday. Looks fine. They fixed the gap at the passenger door and repaired the rear bumper obviously.
With the GM strike it sat outside for 6-7 weeks longer then it would have otherwise and its got some pretty heavy raildust/rust spots. They offered to detail it as pointed it out when I picked it up but am going have a someone do it as I planned on it anyway. I'm guessing some Iron X and a clay bar will get me back to where I can polish it and go from there. I say I'm not that big on keeping up the outside of it, but guess I am, as its pretty hammered from being outside. Inside was just as nice and clean as I left it. They did a pretty nice job with it overall. Looking forward to getting back to the track in a few weeks finally. |

Looks like... mine! Be happy your car is non-metallic white - The easiest color to match after non-metallic black. If it were a bright metallic like silver, you'd be effed.
Keep the pics handy for the next buyer (if you sell private). It will reduce his anxiety about the CarFax report.

What did you figure out about the diminished value?

Thanks guys yes, ive got plenty of pictures paper work etc.
I'm glad I can go stare at it again whenever it want lol. Ive hired someone and started the process for recovering diminished value. Basically you pay a guy who goes after the insurance company on your behalf. He's got the repair receipts and pictures. Value to be recovered is tbd but I expect to be the cost of repair at least. I think in some cases it can be more. |
